Looks like a 4x to me, maybe someone who still has them (IgorT?) could confirm.

I couldn't read the number on the sled, but everything else is consistent with the 4X sleds we got before.

Peace,

Looks identical to the 4X in my hand - except the numbers on that first sticker are different. Mine is:
8A21
A007
1040

Like Dave, I can't read the numbers in that 2nd photo, but it sure looks like a 4x.

EDIT: but in spite of Igor's testing and negative reviews ;-), I really like the 4x sleds - so if you get quoted a competitive price, imo you still have a great find. anything less than $20 would make me stretch my credit card somewhat!
(I was going to say $40 but in case they're monitoring here...) ;D

Igor, do you know what is on the sticker on the other side of the sled you have a photo of?
Mine is 8A27 2241 A201

I tried to enhance the photo of the other side, but i realised the text is too pixelated. There is nothing to enhance there.. Just a blur of pixels, that could be anything.

I can ask.. But it doesn't really matter, it's a 4x.. It's missing a big chunk of metal.
I succeeded in decoding the QR code by actually redrawing it on a grid. It turned out to have only 7% redundancy (lowest setting) so I could only have 7% of the pixels wrong.

The code on the QR is usually the same as the code written below it, with extra (as is with the PHR). (Someone please confirm.)

The code reads:
BC30/+02/+02/8K100728/A201 (with all the spaces at the end)

Original and fixed (generated from text) codes:

 I'm impressed - really - would not have thought to decode that!

Not wishing to detract from appreciation of what Zom-b has done, but I can't help noting, on the lighter side:
this hobby has really progressed, now we're into forensic DVD repair sled label identification ::)

:D :)

(same old sled, but at least it's now verifiably 4X - still a good diode)

yea seriously, I have NEVER been able to sustain a PHR at 200mW. THese 4x's I can.

Also, Igor, you are not pushing these diodes high enough I believe.... Push them until they are lasing at 200mW. THen do tests on life. Mine has lasted.

Are you gonna replace my diodes for free when they die in only a couple of hours, Amk?

Yours died, Amk. After only a few weeks. That's 10 hours, 15 at most with normal use, could be much less. That's still 10 times more than an average PHR at 200mW, so of course you'd think it lasted. But i'm not looking for a power they can survive only for hours.

When i was testing 4x's, i limited the analyzer to 170mA, cos i thought i can safelly plot them all to that current without damaging them, if i keep the times short. And yet one (high efficiency) died after only seconds of 170mA putting out 168mW - and that on the most gentle driver in the known universe.

Another (low efficiency), degraded from 170 to 130mW in only 30 minutes or so, at 205mA...

I want to find a power they can survive by my standards. If you want to donate some 4x's for testing, i would gladly do lifetime tests at any power you want.

Until then, i'll be looking for a power where they can survive upwards of 60 hours, preferably upwards of 120 hours. I only have one good 4x left at the moment. It's putting out 152-154mW in a personal laser, at 160mA, and i'm very happy with it. Why? Cos a PHR would have degraded by now and died soon after (in fact two PHR's died in that particular laser, before i put this 4x in). This one actually stands a chance of giving me >150mW for a long time. I don't want to murder this one, cos it looks like a good one, and i would love to have a >150mW blu ray that won't die in <two weeks of my use, like all PHRs do at this power with my level of use.. I will just plot it up to 170mA, and then leave it as it is.

These diodes cost too much for me to kill as many as i did PHRs (27 and counting). But luckily i learned enough there, to know where to stop.

I'll tip my hat to the new round culmination
Take a bow for the new 405nm resolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my laser and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

Re: GGW-H20L 6x Sled GB!!! THE EPIC GB THREAD LAWL

"To thine own self be true",
I now give up on the 6x blu.
Tis the middle of the holiday season,
with more gifts to buy, is my reason.
Don't mean to leave you holding the sack,
but, i really need my money back.

Sincerely,
Ted

Re: GGW-H20L 6x Sled GB!!! THE EPIC GB THREAD LAWL

IgorT,
I'm thankful that you're a member here, we NEED your shared knowledge and you are doing a great job developing the technical data specified for our hobby. You're the man. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Amk,
Like I've said a couple times already, thanks so much for your persistent and arduous efforts of trying to prosper our community with awesome blu-ray diodes. As I'm sure you won't give up, and one day, maybe tomorrow (who knows), you will catch the deal you're seeking. And you currently have all of our money locked and loaded. Some of us have become discouraged, and feel that our money should be refunded. Shit happens, we all know that. And when every you do find the deal you're looking for to be set in stone, those of us who are willing to pay again will. I know I will, and it may seem like a waste now, but it won't be too difficult upon it's due time. Basically, I feel it's only justified if we as a group (hence the "group buy") should take an official majority vote for what should be done, and the sooner this happens the better. However, I'm sure it could be handled on an individual basis as well, refunding only those who request to be removed from the list, and hold those who wish to be first in line. IDK, only ideas. But I defiantly would be much more content regarding this issue once I see some action, and sorry to say, but at this point, particularly a refund.

Well stated, Ace82.

Since there is no source, we don't know what the cost/diode should even be any more, anyway. I could live with a refund and start over later - no doubt anyone in for this long will be back when the 6X's ARE available; I sure would be.

Suggestion to amk - Put up a poll for this GB, only people that have paid are to take the poll. See what the majority of participants would like to do at this point.

I agree.

Eventhough i may be fairly new, i did some research before i choose to participate in this. I trust you. That is not the issue.

I personally have to move on with something else to complete what I have going.

agreed. I'd like to voice my opinion... either get us some sleds (hopefully very quickly), or give us a refund.

this has lasted so long that I'm going to have to change my shipping address as I'm moving soon. I'm sure this will happen to a lot of people as college is nearly done and lots of people will be moving.

any action would be good action at this point.
