Yeah, I killed my first one at 232mA's for 3 1/2 minutes straight. It looks like Amk's graph was about 2 minutes long though... And he went up to 250mA's!

Looks like rkcstr pushed to 250mA's as well. How long was your test run Ryan?

Edit: I just noticed in Amk's notes at the bottom of his graph, that he said he ran his for 5 minutes straight at 220mW's!

I tested mine up to about 254mA.  The operation time was less than 30 seconds and was not repeated, so I cannot say if this point is safe or not.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot, I had to test it out a little at the peak too, to see the beam of course! The on-time was still less than 30 seconds, though. Maybe a total time of around 60-90 seconds... definitely not long enough to say whether this is anywhere close to safe.

I don't know of anyone pushing these past 210mA.  I haven't.  I'm willing to "hurt" a $20 diode.  I'm a bit more reluctant to "hurt" a $285 diode

i also plan on running these for a long period of time and doing some tests with them since i need to add them into my scanner which may be on for upwards of 8 hours at a time.

so when i get these i will be putting them in a aixiz and then into my lab style host and will run them with a flexmod driver and test them!

Cool, I'm looking forward to the test as I hope to do the same (or similar). I'm making up a small number of lab-type lasers meant for continuous duty, though I won't have the custom heatsinks (and proper lenses from Igor) for a little while yet.
