Re: 6x Blu-ray SLEDS GB! GET EM WHILE THEY LAST

So when will you start taking payments for round 3?

And now there is a chance of getting either an open or closed can? Or are they all closed can? Or all open can?

You people are confusing!

Amk got a closed can, so it is most likely that the red diodes in these sleds will all be the same...

Amk, I'm sure we will have time to verify the power of the blu-ray diode before the batch 3 buy is closed. Right? I will want to make sure of this first please...

Yeah I've been holding off on getting one until the sleds are verified as the same as the 6x. Yet at the same time I don't wanna miss out.

Re: 6x Blu-ray SLEDS GB! GET EM WHILE THEY LAST

It would seem that all of this consternation is caused by people wanting to know if these are THEE ONES before buy #3 goes down.  Why don't we just wait on buy #3 until somebody gets one from GB #1 set up and lasing?

The sleds are NOT from the GGW-H20l.  That was stated long ago.  It is from the earlier "HD DVD only" disc burner (the H20l is a "combo" burner).  The sleds will probably be a little different.

Christmas WILL come whether we run around in circles or not.  It will NOT get here sooner or later.  It will come when it is time.

Peace,
dave

Re: 6x Blu-ray SLEDS GB! GET EM WHILE THEY LAST

Well, even though wannaburn's sled had an open can red, my GGW-H20L sleds both had the same red diode that Amk is describing.

So with that in mind, I have a good feeling that Amk's sleds will contain the 6X blu-ray diode! :D

But we still have to test it...

Re: 6x Blu-ray SLEDS GB! GET EM WHILE THEY LAST

I don't care if the diodes or sleds are the same so long as the beam profile is the same as well as the power output is either the same or better. Once that is verified, I'm all over this!

Re: 6x Blu-ray SLEDS GB! GET EM WHILE THEY LAST

i dont think that the red diode is much to anyones concern as if the BR diode is the same, so hopefully the BR diode is strong or the same as the 6X you guys have been getting.

But by the sounds of things, it sounds like everyone thats already built a 6X br build has the same one, except for Wannaburns red diode from his sled.
I have a feeling it is only that one model is older than the other, thats why its slightly different from each other.

Yes of course! The blu-ray is what we are after. But the red is a nice bonus.

Here's a graph of the long (canned) red that I just made: (not that we know for sure that it is the same diode yet)

Long (canned) Red - GGW-H20L.jpg

It didn't last long at 430mA's.

I think that 395mA's would be a pretty good place for this diode. Giving about 225mW's through an AixiZ acrylic lens. (this short graph is very comparable the DrLava's graph on the long open can diodes)

I would say that this 'long canned' red diode is a nice bonus! :D

Re: 6x Blu-ray SLEDS GB! GET EM WHILE THEY LAST

Just updating my post. Being that they are going fast, I want to make sure you still got me down for one on batch 3. And depending on when the payments for batch 3 are required, I may be in for 2 more.

Thanks,

Hmm, so are they even really '6x'?? They are less useful to me if they aren't compatible with the ggw-h20l as I was hoping to rebuild those drives into working units again with these modules.

UPDATES:

Supplier says these come from the GBW-H10N 4x drives, yet they are the same sleds used in the 6x drives.

more info as were are updated

Here's an earlier quote from Amk....

At this site, the GBW-H10N drives (4X), cost twice as much as the GGW-H20L drives that are listed on the same page:
http://www.pcplanetsystems.com/abc/products.php?category_id=259

But Amk's supplier says that they are the same sleds for the two drives. Hopefully the supplier knows what they are talking about...

Re: 6x Blu-ray SLEDS GB! GET EM WHILE THEY LAST

it's my belief that since his was a lightscribe model it needed a beefier IR diode and that is the ONLY difference.

thats what i think too, only the red is different, the BR would be the same still.

I don't know if this was mentioned already or not, or if it's even taken for granted, but.....

I can confirm, that these really are 6x sleds! The red diode is that long can "Dilda diode", and the blu has the beam circumsizer on it! :D

Maybe i'm the only one who was wondering about this, but it definitelly feels good to know for sure.. :)

to clear confusion, I quote DIRECTLY from IgorT on like page 16. [smiley=smiley_up.gif] [smiley=smiley_up.gif] [smiley=smiley_up.gif]

I am sure these diodes are the same. As Kenom said, Wannaburn's sled had lightscribe functionality, requiring a better IR diode (the IR does the scribing). Naturally, things would be different in this sled. I would REALLY like to harvest my Blu-ray for you guys and test it out, but I am waiting on my Kryton, and I do not want to waste a 60 dollar diode (in case I kill it like I have done with the other 2 diodes in the sled ;D ;D ).

I am going to post these off after school today. I was up all night doing a research paper too... I feel dizzy...

Re: 6x Blu-ray SLEDS GB! GET EM WHILE THEY LAST

WTF is a beam circumsizer?? is the Beam Jewish???

Or does the beam want the person doing the harvesting to have a better feeling?

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ITGORT and his circumsizer diode beam LOL
