Ok folks.  here is the moment I'm sure you've all been waiting for.  I have fusion drivers in my posession (Thanks SenKat) and am putting everything together and will start shipping all of your barrels asap.

Sadly it's too time consuming for me to assemble these drivers so, I'm shipping them out unassembled.  There will be DETAILED instructions with pictures and everything that you will need to assemble these drivers.  They are very easy to do.  For those that do not have the ability to assemble them, let me know and I will assemble them it will just take longer.  with my school load presently, I don't have a lot of spare time.

I will be sending out emails to those that provided email addresses to notify everyone that their barrels have shipped, when they have shipped.

Now I've only got 58 drivers so those that don't need them kindly notify me and let me know.

This GB is finally winding to a close.  I couldn't be happier.  As I've mentioned a part of me goes to each and every owner with these barrels.

Was expecting kit in June.

Your the man Kenom [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

????? this isn't the V2 barrels.  it's the first run that's been going on for MONTHS!!
Maybe I'm just confused what your talking about in paying to get it done sooner.

Kenom,
I'm thinking the batch you were going to get with tax refund and last I read was going to be anodized.

Think I just answered our questions [smiley=wink.gif]

Well now I go back to be anxsously patient. [smiley=sad.gif]

Yeah I thought it was a reference to the second run.  That run is still going forward and nothing at this point is going to slow it down any.  The major hangup there is the manufacturer.  If only the other machine shops had responded to my quotes, we might have been able to get them quicker.

Anyway.  Sadly this thread is not about run 2 and it has taken entirely tooo long to reach this point.  But given that this was an idea at it's inception, I'd say we've come a long way to making what I saw in my head a reality, and the fact that it took 6 months is really not that bad all things considered.

I've had a thought.  Lets just invest in a forum cnc lathe/mill and I will continue to provide barrel designs, including one's that are AA, AAA, double or single, c-mount 9mm 5.6mm and a whole slew of laser related paraphenalia including meridith style blocks for direct mounting to tec's and lab style modules.  If that were to happen I wouldn't need to wait for the run to start and I could literally make them as they are purchased.  Man what a thing that would be.  You want it in silver?  Not a problem, I'll whip it on out for ya, just let me order the bar stock.  Gold, well it will be a bit expensive but sure why the hell not.
I'll start taking collections.  HEHE.

You can make payments to the Kenom financial freedom project care of...... ;)

Can't help but show off my 1st run barrels! :D

I'm using Lava's FlexDrivers here. Can't say enough about the awesome design of the barrels Kenom!

What a great driver too!

Can't wait to get my Kryton Groove barrels!
Jay

P.S. Another great thing that I love about this set up, is the choice to use 2 X 3.0 volt lithium primaries. (using a silicon diode to drop voltage to 5.5ish) The lasers can sit and not lose charge, because of the long shelf life of those batteries.

Ya know jay, I'd figured you would have taken that red to a bit higher than a measly 260mw.  Something more along the lines of 300-400mw.

Nice work though. I'm really likin those laser labels on that barrel. Makes it look complete.

I did think about drilling out the front and fitting it for a Meredith glass lens, which would put me over 300mW's. But after seeing how your design is so perfect for the AixiZ lens/with aperture cap, I like it just fine the way it is!

Also, for the open can reds, I am testing the 450mA setting here. With my MXDL builds, using the DDL driver and no pot, the choice for current is either 420mA's, or 470mA's. (3 ohm vs 2.7 ohm). With Lava's driver, you can adjust it in between.
Jay

P.S. The labels are great on there! They were a surprise 'gift' from Senkat on my last order. Thanks Greg!

I'm still unable to get an answer as to the dimensions on those lenses. Cause it wouldn't be that hard to take a tap to the top and cut new threads. Peice of cake.

There are some dimensions on Meredith's page here:
http://www.mi-lasers.com/cgi-bin/sh...hstart=0&template=Templates/SearchResult.html
But check out that diagram on their page. The part labeled 'diode retainer', which fits inside the brass module, holds the lens as well. I don't think there is room (length wise) in the top of your barrel to modify it for threading the Meredith focussing knob directly into your barrel. (like the AixiZ lenses)

The way I was going to do it, is to drill out the barrel cap to 1/2" (like my heatsinks). Then mount the complete Meredith module in there with a set screw on the side.

I think I would settle for the Meredith focussing knob sticking out the front. (same way it is mounted in my heatsinks) Then use the rubber 'tail cap' aperture cover.

I'll probably do this with my next 803-T build, just to get 30% more power out of the blu-ray diode! ;)

Well, I'm sure someone could modify it to fit. I sure wouldn't attempt it though. That would take some very fine skills. The glass lens is thicker, more domed, and larger in diameter than the acrylic lenses. It is designed to sit very close to the LD.

A guy would have to fabricate a special lens holder, or modify the Meredith lens holder. It would be much easier to just use the Meredith module, and position it in your (drilled out) barrel cap using a set screw as I described above....(IMO)

Or, of course the best set up for it, would be run 3. The Meredith Kryton! :D

Or maybe just a cap option, fit for the Meredith!
