Kenom, I will take one of a freed up ones if it is still available.

Let me know if it's a go and I will pay when I get home. There have been a few prices kicking around - what's the final cost shipped? Thanks,

Paul

Chimo. There is indeed room. I've still got about 5 more of the one's I've got set aside for potential buyers So plenty of room.
costwise?
essentially it is this.  Barrel $35
shipping in US. $5 = $40

Barrel $35
International shipping $15 = $50

Ok here comes another selection stage.  This is where everyone involved sends me a PM indicating the color of the button cover they would like to get.  I will post a picture of the colors I have and how many are available.  those that send me pm's the quickest will have the pick of the litter as far as color is concerned.  I only have a limited supply of each color so unfortunetly if your not quick you don't getta pick.  Hey I should market that slogan.  "if your not quick, you don't getta pick!"® :)

Ok picture.

total of each color
Red = 20
Glow in the dark = 45
black = 32
Orange = 12

Oh and if you don't get a color you like or would like to be able to change the color you can buy these from DX (where I got em) for relatively cheap. no more than $3

just a quick question, what is the final color of the barrel going to be, polished or brushed aluminum? I wanna get a color that will... mesh well ;)

Very good question. Essentially they will look like the Dorcy Mini/jr. color wise. I really wanted to keep it as silver as possible but I don't think that is possible. The manufacturer is going to anodize it but they indicated to me there is no "clear" anodizing and I don't think that chrome polish will be good for thermal conductivity. I may just go ahead and get it chromed anyway. I'll talk with them about that tomorrow.

kenom, I think there is definately a way that they can polish those barrels to a mirror finish without having to annodize or put chrome polish on. However, that might take more time, aka more money, for the manufacturing process. I think anodizing a gun-metal like dorcy mini color might be the best bet here.
Here is a link that gives you an idea of some anodized colors you can get, and what they look like in comparison to just straight polished metal

Any chance of getting true HA-III hard anodized finishes? Or is the price out of our league. I really dig the HA-III natural color on my flashlights. And the scratch resistance is really awesome. None of that normal wear and tear.

I don't mind paying just slightly more for a true mil-spec HA-III finish if possible. Not sure if they have HA-III in silver though.

Chromed or mirror finish is pretty but is fingerprints galore. A matte/brushed silver would be nice. I must even admit that the black finish as found on WL Fusion is pretty nice and simple. Don't like the shiny black lacquer finish on those CNIs. Might just be me but I even prefer the weird black "rubber looking" coating on DX newwishes over my CNI. Such heresy.

But I guess we'll still follow your design aesthetics :cool:

yeah I'm really not in love with the HA-III. it's hard coating is great yes but in order to get the hard coat they need to let the layer become thicker. That changes the color to reaaly dark. I want these things to "look" like the Sonar cases color wise. but I was told it wasn't do-able. Essentially it's either coat it with a zinc chrome or anodize it clear leaving it looking like the Dorcy Jr.

Do you have pictures of a zinc chrome coat? I am not sure how that looks. Isn't the Sonar housing just a normal shiny finish as well or is it mirror polished?

Dorcy Jr is HA-II anodized afaik. Not the most reflective of finishes but it looks good. Not sure about the durability of the finish but I am sure you know it well.

I just hope we go with the most durable finish over one that will end up flaking or scratching off easily.

yeah I hear ya.  The durability on the dorcy is good.  I can engrave on it but other than that it doesn't come off!
I've gotten into the habit of signing my lasers I make from them.  So folks know it's an original Kenom product!

The sonar appears to be just a shiny finish. I'm not too sure it's defentily not mirror polished. I'd really like to see these mirror polished like the leadlights. Shiny chrome looks. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I'd be up for a brushed finish rather than shiny on a count of it being hard to see scratches, but i won't complain either way.

What exactly are you going to have to get besides this to complete the laser?
