Update: It looks like the people that had first shown interest for one reason or another have changed their mind. So I will be closing this Group Buy.

Also, Susie has told me that she will accept single orders now!

No harm done! :)

I have ordered several times from Susie (Standstone11) and have so far received good customer support from her.

I recently tried out one of her higher quality 250mW IR filtered lasers to test it. Here are the test results of the laser that I recieved...

My Standstone11 250mW.jpg

I must say, I am pretty impressed with this thing! :) As you can see, the host is very nice. It is very thick and solid. Heavy duty. Although it looks like an RPL, it is slightly different sized. It's about an inch shorter, and the barrel is a little smaller in diameter as well. I like that it is smaller.

I labeled it where the average power was. I put the warning sticker on it as well. (it came with no labels) I was glad that the small LED light was slightly recessed. I put my 300mW label over it, because it was much too bright. It's a bright blue LED that can be used as a flashlight it's so bright! And it is plenty bright even with the label over it. Also, the button switch is normally red like the RPL's, but she said they were out of the red buttons and I told her it was fine for me...

It starts out at 400mW's and climbs to 463mW with-in 30 seconds at normal room temperature.

Then it starts a steady drop in power to settle in right around 300mW's with-in the next 30 seconds. I left it on for about 1 1/2 minutes. The last 30 seconds, it fluctuates between 290mW's and 310mW's and is mostly staying at 296mW's to 300mW's area.

I repeated this same test several times with the same results.

You can see the IR filter mounted on top of the final lens if you take the top cap off. (with the sliding aperture cover)

The beam is 'fat' compared to my Nova and my RPL, and the divergence is not as good either. But for the price, it is fine for me!

All in all, I am very happy with it! :)

Beam shot comparisons with the Standstone11 laser compared with my RPL, and a red Kryton... (using some smoke)

SSbeam1.jpg

SSbeam2.jpg

Here you can see what I am talking about when I say that it has a 'fat' beam.

So if you want something not necessarily for thin beam divergence, but you just like a really bright beam and lots of power for cheap, I don't think it's a bad deal at all!

One other thing worth mentioning...

This thing doesn't seem to have much of a warm up time. It just comes on strong right away. My RPL has to be 'warmed up' before it starts putting out max power... I know that they are two completely different laser designs, but I'm just saying that I really like this thing. :)

In these pictures, I made sure my RPL was 'warmed up' and it is putting out about 300mW's here. The open can red is at 279mW's, and the Standstone11 laser is over 400mW's (guessing from my testing - figuring that it is still climbing in power - first 30 seconds)

Group Buy Information: (There is a $20 dollar Group Buy discount off of the prices on her site) This Group Buy is for the (RPL style) host shown here. (she said they will make a minimum of 6, one style host)

Here is how this will work: I told her that I would continue with this Group Buy, as long she continues to give the good customer service that she has so far demonstrated with me.

She is promising... that if there is a problem with the laser when you get it, you can contact her for repair or replacement.

Please note: I am just the middle man for the the minimum order Group buy. And that she is the direct contact. She told me that she will not sell one or two of the higher quality IR filtered lasers. Only 6 minimum. I talked her into selling me the first one so that I could test it and make sure that it was IR filtered.

Divergence: I put my goggles on and measured the dot at 40' distance. Using a black piece of plastic. The dot size was 4.5mm at 1', and 28mm @ 40'.

These lasers are fit for a non-protected 18650 battery. (65mm length) There is no built-in protection circuit on the lasers. So you must check your battery with these. Or modify the tail cap battery contact to fit a protected battery. A protected battery works, but the cap would not screw down flush. So I did a slight easy modification to my cap so that it would screw all the way down. (no battery or charger will be included at this price)

** I will collect payment for the orders and make the group order from Susie... (PM me for payment)

* For U.S. buyers, I can have them sent to me, and I will test the power first if you want. This would cost you an additional $12 dollars, because I would want to ship to you with insurance and signature confirmation as well. Or, just let me know to have yours sent direct from Susie.

* For all other locations, I will give your shipping and order information to her, and she will ship to you direct. She always gives tracking information with her shipments.

The only thing that I want to make sure, is that I cover myself on PayPal fees. So I think that adding $15 dollars to her price (250mW model) should be plenty extra to cover my PayPal fees.

Here is her site with prices for a minimum order of at least 6 lasers at a time: (250mW models or greater)
http://www.o-like.com/b2b_cpinfo.asp?id=869 (you add the price + her shipping + $15 for my PayPal fees - then subtract the $20 dollar Group Buy discount) Add an additional $12 if you want me to test the power first. (U.S. only)

Here is the DX 250mW laser for $488. I'm guessing that the DX one is not IR filtered and most likely under powered. But I have not checked it out. Has anyone bought one of the DX 250mW 'FirePoint' lasers yet? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13491

Note: As you can see from my review, these have a 'fat' beam. They are not a super thin beam like Nova or Optronics. The divergence is not as good either. But the power is there, and the price is good!

Order list: (When we get at least 6 people who are ready to pay, then I will collect the money and send her the order) The list can continue, and those who didn't get in on one order, can get in on the next!

Re: GB: High Powered Green Lasers - Good Price!

It depends on which laser you want. Go to her site that I have linked above. The prices are listed. You just add her $12 dollars shipping, and my $15 dollars for PayPal fees (250mW model), then subtract the $20 dollar GB discount. That's the total... Unless you are in the U.S. and want me to test the laser first, then it would cost another $12 dollars for my shipping to you...

Re: GB: High Powered Green Lasers - Good Price!

What is the exact divergence on these? I know the site says <1.5 Mrad but I don't exactly trust their readings... Also, are the beams crooked or do they come out straight?

thanks

My beam was not aligned as good as I would have liked. I told her that people would not like this, and she promised that it would not be an issue.

Her website says $398.00, I thought the price was $369.00...I'm confused by your statement :-/

Re: GB: High Powered Green Lasers - Good Price!

I talked her into selling a single laser for testing, and that if they were this power with an IR filter, that I could set up a group buy. I also asked her for a discount on my test laser. (Especially because she was out of the red buttons at the time) She also said minimum 3 at first (for the higher quality IR filtered builds), and now it is minimum 6.

I just e-mailed her and asked her if she would give the Group Buy participants a $20 dollar discount off her web site prices. It's probably around 4:00 am over there right now, so I'm sure I will get her responce in a few hours...

Re: GB: High Powered Green Lasers - Good Price!

Just added a couple more to the list and there is already enough for the first group buy...

I will post back soon to see if we will get the $20 dollar discount that I asked for, I think it will be granted. I know it's not a lot, but better than nothing!

Re: GB: High Powered Green Lasers - Good Price!

Ok, it's a yes for the $20 dollar discount for this Group Buy! :)

So check the price of the laser you want on her site (250mW or more), add her $12 dollar shipping cost, add my $15 dollar PayPal fee. (if you want a 400 to 450mW one, my PayPal fee may be a little more, so I will show you a copy of my PayPal if it is)

Anyway, then subtract $20 dollars and that's the total. The only other added cost would be for U.S. buyers who would like me to test the power first. Then it will be an additional $12 bucks for my shipping to you...

We're ready for this 'first round' Group Buy! Chime in if you are ready to pay!

Hey that's good she got her site up and running. But wow, that is some fat divergence. Have you done any tests to see how much IR still spills out? I don't trust "IR filtered" lasers with exception to CNI lasers, which produce less than what comes out of 5mW lasers.

Re: GB: High Powered Green Lasers - Good Price!

I have some IR filters and yes, I did put one in the beam path to measure the difference...

It was about 20mW's less power having to go through another IR filter. Which didn't bother me much at 400mW's. I'm not an expert on filters and lenses but I would think that having to pass through any kind of optic would lessen the power to some degree.

Re: GB: High Powered Green Lasers - Good Price!

Got you!

I have asked her if she can just this once, get you the other style host that you asked for. Because this GB is only for the one (RPL style) host that is shown in the link to her site that I put in this thread.

She said that she is going to their warehouse tomorrow morning to see if it is available for you. I'll let you know tomorrow...

The sooner everyone pays, the sooner we can send the order!

Re: GB: IR Filtered 250mW+ Green Lasers - Good Pri

Honestly, this beam is better suited for just painting the room or sky green. I did some experimenting with mine to see how well it burns, and found that even at 4' distance, a black tipped match took about 3 or 4 seconds to ignite.

It is really hot on the skin, and I'm sure it would do well with stuff like plastic, tape and balloons. But it doesn't compare that well to the thin beam, tight dot burners.

But visually, this thing is a giant light saber!
Jay

P.S. It kind of feels like maybe the people on the list might of lost interest?? I'll give it a couple of weeks max, and if we don't have at least 6 buyers, then I will refund the people who have paid...
