were at 34 boards!! that means the price has dropped to 2.25 without soldermask, and 3.05 with sodlermask.

dont forget to vote on soldermask / no soldermask

Hey, Amk have you consider using L7805 instead of LM317T? Its 5v positive regulator can handle current up to 1A, and smaller size too.

radioshack doesnt sell L7805's. this is mostly so we can do a clean DDL driver in no time, that looks professional. if I were to do an assembled driver GB, I would take into consideration other regulators.

Nice design. I just wish there were a 1 Ohm resistor in series with the laser diode so it would be easy to measure the current through the laser diode with a volt meter.

you can still do that. just solder one end of the 1ohm to + out, and the other end of the resistor to +in on your diode.

I'll buy some when you get a google checkout setup for it. :)

Also, I'd kinda just like a black and white etching template, I've wanted to try etching my own boards for a while now. I have a kit, I just need the transparency paper to print it on. If it worked, I might even do a whole 6x6 sheet of them.

google checkout is setup. you first have to commit. once total commitments are gathered, I will calculate the cheapest price, and then you can pay me through google checkout. I cant set one up now, because if more ppl order boards, it will bring the price down, and I will have to make a whole new google checkout. so, for the cheapest and fastest way to get boards, commit now. once google checkout is setup I will not be accepting additional orders.

Is it also possible to put a capacitor between the + and Ground power input to the driver to help in slow starting the diode, as in Sam´s Laserfaq´s Simple Laser Diode Power Supply?
Or is this cap unnecessary?

it is unnecessary, and will make the board bigger. you can manually solder one if you want. just solder a cap in parallel with the input.

Re: GB initiated: DDL driver "plug n' play boards"

I think if we get 50+ orders then they should only come with solder mask. Already we are saving money and $2.50 a piece(50+ order) is a really good price.

When do you plan on placing the first order? Sorry if this has been asked but i cbf reading through.

I am aiming for 50 boards, if interest dies down after 50 boards, then ill place the order. Im trying to get as much ppl in as possible.

I am going to set a deadline of March 14, 2008

so, you have around a week to order, then I will setup google checkout and the first GB will be over. The manufacturer is in AU, so Im estimating a good 2 weeks for manufacturing + shipping (to me).
