I have a MSV4 LTE I have in mind for this if the planets align in my favor.

The diodes shipped to me! eBay says I should get them the 15th...but the seller says I should get them in a couple days. Either way I'll ship one out to ARG as soon as I get them!

@ApexProxy The minisabre v2 would be great for these diodes...I have my PL520 in the polished version. I may build my second diode into one of these.

Re: GB: 473nm diode information / raffle

The reason why I don't see more of these becoming available is the low amount of uses for this diode. 445nm/460nm diodes are already cheap enough for projectors and 520nm green laser diodes are also on the market. I just don't see a big enough use to make mass production of these diodes practical, especially when 473nm DPSS is available and holds a stable wavelength.

I could be completely wrong though.

Well, these are really good for scientific purposes. A blue DPSS system to go in a lab machine would be over $10,000, likely way more - while a diode like this plus a driver would run much less than $10,000. Plus it's less power hungry and gives you less waste heat.

These definitely have a place in the scientific world, and will keep it - but as you say, I don't think these will get super mass produced because they're for scientific applications, unlike the PL520's or the 9mm 445nm diodes.

Yes, economically they are cheaper. They have value in simple settings such as university labs.

However, in a situation requiring a STABLE exact WL without variation, a stable, properly cooled, DPSS is perfect. These diodes vary, and are easy to change. Some situations don't require much stability, others do.

I don't see these making waves, but ripples, quite possible. I just don't see these being a very big deal.

My $0.02.

I have an unclaimed MS host that I have yet to decide what to build into. Just might be one of these :)

Go ahead. :)

After shipping & all I estimate this will cost 370-400.

Any leftover dollars will be donated to LPF.

Will do!

Payment done :)

Cheers, Sm.

Received :)

There is room for more if anyone else wants to join in.
Paypal has been taking 4% out of the donations for fee's, so I increased the goal to $370 :) I'll cover it if no one else wants to join in.

There's always one...

These look great but I'll wait for the price to be halved and the output to be >100mW. I think a 120mW single-mode version would be great.

OK, I'll give $5 -just so that I can say that I participated in buying one of the first 473nm laser diodes :D
