Re: GB - $4 FusionDrives

I hate to do this but I am going to cancel my order for the two I reserved :( . I bought a Kenom GB Barrel which includes on of these drivers, and thought I would have trouble making my own driver but I succeeded :) . Good luck!

Re: GB - $4 FusionDrives

Are there any spots for these drivers left? I would like (2), if possible. I live in the US.
Great forum, awesome project, I missed out on the Kenom barrel purchase, so just the boards would be welcome, if I am not too late again.

Re: GB - $4 FusionDrives

I may need to add to my total - looking at 10+ (and a few w/NO components mounted).

Re: GB - $4 FusionDrives

for those of you that bought these for the barrels there is no need. The barrels come with these already and purchasing additional ones for your barrels is not necessary. Now don't get me wrong, for the price there is no beating this and should defenitly take advantage of it!

Re: GB - $4 FusionDrives

Yeah, I think some people missed earlier post about what is included with the "Kenom Barrel", what a package! Everyone involved in this project has outdone themselves ;)
Unfortunatly, I missed out on the Kenom Barrel group buy, (newcomer to the fold), but I have ordered all of the other parts from StoneTech for building the Dorcy Jr, and a recommended host from DealExtreme, (MDXL 4171 flashlight). I know the Dorcy comes with a board that will work too. (for powering the original flashlight), but I understand yours is smaller, more efficient, and more specific for our needs, especially if I can ever get my hands on one of those Bluray diodes, (next project). Plus, I plan on trying some other hosts, smaller board=more suitible hosts and better builds.
The only thing that I can imangine working better would be a round-circuit board, with an oversized ID-hole for mounting the LD through, (think washer), that would lay against the back side of the "heatsink-LD mounting area". Like the washers that are used to replace the lense, and hold the Aixiz module in the Dorcy. I think this set-up would be very space efficient, and the board would be closer to a large heat-sinking area. although this would make it less universal than yours, I do not think that the Kenom barrel would have any of this wasted space, due to the specific design not having the "enlarged flashlight head", like the Dorcy. I have yet to build any of these though, my experience is limited to reading and re-reading all of these threads, so I am still a "wannbe".
My hats off to you all :)

Re: GB - $4 FusionDrives

I'm in for 2.

I would like to get the barrels, but I probably missed out. But either way, I want two boards.

Missed where to pay, (read all 28 pages of the barrel thread, so I only read about 6 pages of this)

Re: GB - $4 FusionDrives

You need to wait until Blue gets the parts and makes a prototype, then he'll put up a website to pay him.
