I think the list is properly updated. Please let me know.
Still waiting to hear from Adam. Will advise as soon as I hear from him.

Ok, I've checked and double checked the list and think it's properly updated. If you see a mistake let me know ASAP.

Still no word from Adam. I had hoped to hear from him through the night but didn't. He's taken up to a couple days to respond to me so hopefully I will hear from him by tomorrow. I'm checking with my bank's wire division here in a little while to see if they do wire transfers on Saturday. If they do and Adam gets me the information today I will place the order and pay for it probably tomorrow. If not then it will be first thing Monday morning.

Just a little heads up. International wire transfers can take up to 14 days to clear. I've never seen one take beyond three days but they always give me the disclaimer about the two week period. So, technically it could take two weeks before Adam receives payment but again, I've never seen anything beyond three working days on one of these. Once I've sent funds and he confirms receipt I will update the thread. I will also update when he ships and then of course, when I receive them. I've already picked up nine USPS boxes and started cutting the foam inserts. I plan to have all the boxes ready to do with addresses and the stamp on them so when I receive the lasers all I need to do is quickly test for function, write the serial numbers down and post them, and box and ship them.

If anyone will be wanting theirs metered on my Ophir please let me know and I will put that on the spreadsheet I've made. As mentioned before, I won't be doing any metering until I've randomly assigned a working lasers serial number to your LPF name and posted them on this thread. Once that's done I will be glad to meter anyone's laser and send documentation.

As you may have already read on these, the output can be deceptively high at first. I just ran mine again from a cold start and it easily peaked to 109mw and stayed in the 90's for a good 15-20 seconds. Then they gradually settle down to around 60mw. By the time they get down to 60mw you are running close to the duty cycle and it needs to be shut down. So, effectively these are more like 80-90 mW units if you use them sparingly for short runs and keep it cool. They warm up quickly too. 15 seconds on and then off again and about 15 seconds after it's off you'll fell the host start to slightly warm up.

The more I play with mine the more I love it. My 589 that is....

sounds good, I'd like mine metered, i understand this is done after it is chosen randomly. Here's hoping I'm as lucky as bowtieguy:beer:

All deposits are in and we are just waiting on Adam to surface again. Please take a minute to review the list and make sure everything is correct. I finally got everyone's information I needed as well and the spreadsheet is complete and waiting for serial numbers to be added.

I emailed him a couple times last night and again today. I also emailed through the website contact us address. Hopefully we will hear back from him before the weekend is over. I believe they are behind us in time like the east coast is from the west (depending on how you make your convention of ahead or behind) so it may have already been Friday last night when I emailed him and maybe he took a half day off? I'm not sure. At times he's really quick about returning my emails and at other times it's taken him up to 3 days. I do know he's attentive and provides extremely good customer service so whatever the reason he hasn't gotten back to me I'm sure it's a good one. I really suspect he may be off for the weekend already and I will probably hear from him late Sunday night. Either way I am prepared to pay him. In the past with big purchases out of China I've paid with a bank wire transfer and was thinking to pay this way with this purchase. But as I started to consider $4400 and the risks associated with international wire transfers I've had second thoughts. Alternately, I have a credit card with plenty of room on it for this and am going to go this route instead. Not that I am too worried about tossing out $4400 and getting back nothing, which could happen, there's just an added security with a credit card purchase if it were needed.

Until I send the money to China everyone's PayPal deposits are going to just sit where they are in my account. I will withdraw the funds to pay my CC balance only after the lasers are received by me and mailed to each of you.

Isaac, do you have any sense on what type of deal he may offer the four beam expanders and adapters to us for? I think somewhere it was said the total for these at retail were around $100. I'm hoping he will sell them closer to $50-60 but I really don't know, that's just my wishful thinking.

I will keep everyone posted as soon as I hear back from Adam. If I don't post anything over the next 48 hours it's because he hasn't responded and is likely gone for the weekend already.

Again, a big thank you to everyone participating. This went lightning fast and everyone has been exceptionally easy to work with and given everything I've asked for in a very timely manner. You guys have been great. I can't imagine this going any smoother than it already has.

Have a safe Friday night and weekend,
JM

He is gone for the weekend. It is already Saturday over there. And yes these were 100 dollars retail. You may see a markdown to 80 but I don't see much more than a 20% discount.

Sorry to ask so late but curious. Will we be credited bonus points in our accounts at Dragonlasers? This purchase will provide a big discount on future purchases from DL and make some people gold members with them if the points are credited if they are not gold status already.

Typically one person actually pays so the points would be theirs. However bear in mind that the discount is quite significant so you are saving more than you otherwise would even if u were a gold member.

The only way I could see it working is if he submitted everybody's email from their account. But even then I don't know if Adam would be willing to put that much time in.

Isaac, I never thought about it that way. I'm not really interested in accumulating points for my own personal use and I am going to suggest that if possible, he distribute them among the participants. You are correct however, the savings made here exceed any gold discount and points earned. Adam seems to be a very reasonable guy and would probably be willing to work with me (us) on this.

I am in fact going to submit everyone's email addresses to Adam for the warranty assignment. I have all of them and they will be sent once serial numbers are assigned.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to insinuate that you wanted the points. At any rate if Adam is willing to work with yall on that I am even more impressed with the DL customer service. They truly are one of the best out there.

Oh, almost forgot, Adam sent me an email this morning. He was away on business and just got back into town.

Here's the deal on the beam expanders, he is only willing to offer the same 10% discount on these WITH free shipping. Not bad. The catch, which is really no catch, these will have to be ordered by each individual and the discount will be made via a one time use coupon code each participant will receive. I have not received these yet and probably won't until my payment clears. So, for everyone who wants a code, please EMAIL me. If you are already on the list as needing a BE I will provide it automatically when I receive it. If you don't have down on the list as wanting a BE but may want one, email me and I will provide the code at the time I receive them.

FluttuerPie- Since you and I are working out our deal between us, I've got things covered for our arrangement. Don't worry about the code and ordering for your BE.

I'm at church between school and service now so when I get home I will be emailing Adam about the points assignment and rare metal memberships. I'm going to tell him that if possible I would ask point be distributed evenly. It may be that some of you don't have an account already and one will need to be made before this could happen. It may be prudent to go ahead and create an account so if it's possible he will have an account ready to either upgrade or assign points to.

If he can't assign the points then I will at least ask he give everyone a gold membership. Very worse case scenario, if he can't do any of these and someone participating needs something down the road I would be willing to buy it through my account on your behalf and use some of the credits I may receive on your behalf.

Starlight, it's a valid question and concern and I will do everything possible to make things equitable for everyone one way or another. I certainly didn't do this GB for personal gain, whatever little points and memberships I might receive are really not worth the effort involved. As this being the second GB I've done I've come to appreciate those members who have done this elsewhere much more. It's more work than I thought it would be. But I'm not whining, I'd do it again and will do it again in the future. Just keep this in mind anytime you participate in a GB. These guys doing them really have to love serving the forum to do them. Now from experience I can say that any benefit they might receive is probably not worth near the efforts involved.

Hope everyone is having a fine weekend. Will post more updates later this evening.

True never thought of it like that.

I'm already gold status so I'm in no need of points. yeah Isaac is right the discount is bigger than a gold discount would be and we keep our points too. disregard my question please :)

Is this BE deal just for those that took part on the GB or can anyone get one?

Since everyone will order their own I'm assuming the free shipping offer is to anywhere in the world?

I did not take it as an insinuation, don't worry. I was just saying I had never considered any of this but probably should have. They are great points, especially considering this won't be the last GB. Having now thought about these things we can negotiate these sorts of "perks" into the deal from the get go if possible.

@ Atonicrox- I would imagine there may be a participant here who could care less about getting a coupon code for a beam expander. Since they are supposedly one time use codes someone here may let you have theirs. You could try it and if it works great. If I wasn't planning to use mine then I would give it to you. I will feel these coupon codes out a little more. Also, since I am getting two lasers myself I will ask Adam if I can have two coupons. I only need one.
