Re: Group buy on g type lenses

So just when I get the first three in my own hands to test them we are now changing suppliers?

I guess this is a good thing if they are indeed superior to the ones from techhood.

What is the AR coating on these new S1 lens?

Rifter, I don't know the answer to that question, but my guess is it is the same as the G-9 lenses, which have an AR coating for violet through green. I believe the tests have been done on the reds and have similar results. I would expect it to be better in the IR range as well.

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

Ok well just to throw my 2 cents in I am ok with going through with the original order for the techhood lens.

And I guess I am also ok with switching to these new S1 lens, although I am a bit uneasy about doing it without having my hands on one first. I feel more confident in the techhood lens as I have 3 in my own hands now.

Rifter, yeah, I thought long and only came to this conclusion when the gains were so much higher than the other supplier. It wasn't an easy decision. I think once it is all over it will be the better deal. I've been wrestling with this for days. I hope I can be forgiven once these new lenses arrive.

Is the timeline going to be the same for the new groups buy?

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

There has been no talk about changing the deadline. It would be to everyone's advantage to get as many of these lenses ordered as possible. The price per lens will drop slightly ( maybe $0.30 per lens) if we can get more ordered than what we have right now.

OK I'm in for the S1, I have $200 to spend on them, however many that will buy me. I don't plan on using any of them for months, so moving the deadline out further is fine with me to get more to buy in, if you want to do that.

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

To be safe, Laser Project, I would order 50 lenses and that should be under your $200.00 limit. I can't say that we will hold this up for much longer, since this is no longer "my" group buy. But, to be fair to everyone in the GB it should be close to July 1st.

BTW, I suggest that everyone look at the spreadsheet they have access to, and see that your order is correct. If not, PM me and let me know what you would like.

Shipping should be about the same as the O-Like group buy. I can't remember for sure, but think it was about $5.00. Maybe a little more or a little less. Of course for large orders there will be a larger shipping fee, but these lenses weigh so little that I don't think it will break anybody.

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

Right this moment I have a commitment for 165 lenses, and that doesn't count the ones thejoker301 will buy. I have no doubt that we will have a larger group buy than the O-Like group buy. This could easily go down to $3.10/ lens plus PP fees and shipping.
