Collecting money on brand new S1 lenses

That is something you will have to ask Eitan, as he is still running the group buy and I only have control over the spreadsheet.

Personally I'm in no hurry. But understand some people may be and want to set a date to pay by .

I've been in enough group buys over the years on so many different forums to know better than to count on them happening in a timely fashion or even at all

My latest information is that this group buy is closing as we speak, and the lenses will be ordered in the next day, maybe two.

I really wanted to get in on this, oh well. Unfortunately I didn't know if i would be here to accept them if it took a couple months. Really wished we had some kind of delivery estimate.

TomD, your lenses are on the spreadsheet and need to be paid by the end of today. Take the # of lenses X $3.13 +PP fees + shipping=pay this. Also PM me and give me your country where you live for shipping purposes.

As paul said it is the last day to pay.

Tomorrow on 10am-12pm ( GMT+2 ) I will contact the supplier and pay him.

Important !

I want to say it once again before I pay the supplier. The lenses will be declared with a value of $73.

Amount of lenses is 359 lenses. There is a possiblity that customs will check the pacakge.

I such a case we will need to pay 225ils for the check. There is a very low possibilty that we will need to pay for customs. But it is still a possibilty.

It is a bit scary for me right now. As this is a commercial amount of products.

I can do two things :

* Pay for the lenses and wait for the surprise. We will need to pay or not.

* Pay for the lenses And get them shipped only in 2-3 days.
Then contact a customs agant and ask him for a release service. He will also be able to tell us if we will need to pay taxes for them or not.

** The second option is more secure as we will know what we are expecting for , if you guys want the first option. I can not be responsible for extra costs or if the pacakge will be taken due to commercial amount of products which may require a sepcial import **

I did not know all that at start. I talked to a friend the other day , he has a company and told me about these stuff. I just want to be honest , I can not take that much risk. So I think talking to a custom agent first will be better.

If we take the second option. The supplier will make us a PI. This PI will be sent to a customs agent. He will tell me exactly what the importing costs will be. And then we can proceed with the purchase more easily and saftley.

Just for the record : I order large amount of heatsinks. Never got into problems. Had to pay release fees a few times. I usually order 100-150 heatsinks at a time.

So I guess we will not have a problem. But , who knows ? And I do not want to gamble with your money.

Just want to help. If it was my money .. It was easier .. But I can not afford losing money which is not mine.

Won't asking a customs agent guarantee we will have to pay and increase the cost (as they will surely verify and know the actual cost was much larger)?

Are you sure it won't be like $1 or $2 extra per lens?

I'm almost giving up. I hate gambling.

Customs agent ... does not work in customs.

Every shipping company has her own Custom Agents. They know how everything is being calculated.

DHL has customs agents. You bassically tell them what the pacakge contain and they tell you what will be the expected payment for it.

They can not know the pacakge actual value. As the supplier delcaring it much lower. And , there is no such products that they can compare them too. It is not like importing smart phones , when they actually know how much they cost. It is different.

Also , by contacting a custom agent you do not have to tell him your package tracking info or anything. He just gives you a releasing service.

Let's assume I contact the agent and he tells me we will have to pay $xxx amount for the pacakge. We can still cancel the whole thing off. I will pay the supplier only after knowing the exact amount.

I really want to help everyone. When I first saw this GB ... I already had the new lenses on the way from the supplier , and told Paul about it.

But , in order for it to go smoothly , we have to know what we are doing. Bad surprises will not be good for us. As a lot of money is on the line here.

On the last GB it worked. But who knows what can happen ? If you guys take the risk ... than it is okay by me. But , I can not take the risk of losing $1200+-.

So I want to be sure about everything. As PayPal will be against me in a case everything will go wrong.

If everyone is okay with it , I will try to contact an agent tomorrow.

I don't think contacting customs to enquire about it then deciding against declaring it to save money and shipping it anyways would be a good option as then customs will know you are having something shipped in.

I think if we are going to enquire with customs we should declare it properly for sure and ship it totally legit, or just don't say anything to customs at all and hope it slips though.

EDIT: Im in whatever you guys decide just FYI.

Why would customs be interested in the package anyway? Can't the supplier just send a plain old box without any indication of what's inside?

He can ... but customs will stop the pacakge in %100. And he will contact me and ask about the value. So , why not delcare it from the start ?

By not declaring a pacakge value , you just make things more complicated.

Every country ( to my knowledge ) require a value declaration. Otherwise , it was very easy to import things with a high value and not pay taxes.

I will contact the agent in the morning. I am sure it will be better for us in anyway , as it will give us more info about the future of the package.

I wonder how much space and weight (box-wise) 359 lenses would take. It is indeed tricky having to contact an agent at the same time keeping the declared value under wraps.

I'd be in the same boat as Thejoker301 about if it was only my money, and wouldn't bother contacting an agent. But this is a group buy, so one priority should be on minimizing the risks for everyone, and risks are better spread out thinly.

edit: I rechecked eitan's post and a possibility of paying 225ILS ~ around 68USD for 359 units comes out at around 0.19USD each.
