If the base price of a 589nm 80-120mw is around 600 dollars give or take I would be interested in one.

Depending on how the 1st GB organized by Mr. Bloompyle turns out in the end (I believe it'd be epic, touch wood), I'd be interested in a nice yellow (plus/minus) 100mw (hopefully that much) 589nm treat...naturally for a price which could make this GB attractive again!

I would take CNI over lasever. Lasever is referred to over at PL by "lasnever". Though they take pride in their labbies, so who knows.

Jay's last 2 473's went to 120mW, and the 532 was 800mW. So can't be that bad I guess

Seems to be a LARGE misconception with the 589's. They only sell them up to 80mW. They just happen to come out overspec at times. Some are exactly 80mW, and then others like mine are 126. All luck of the draw.

I just had my 473nm handheld from lasever stop working on me over the weekend. I pressed the button for it to turn on and there was a flash of blue, now nothing. It was a very bad feeling seeing a 473 die especially since I just got it a few months ago :cryyy:. I guess I will be sending some emails out soon.

it turned LED on you?
Or what?

Would love to hear how Lasever handles this.

That's a first... a 473 having a non-drop death...
I have a 473 module from them in a custom build that's putting over 100mW on average. Recently moved the module inside and now the divergence is unmatched.

Lasever also might still sell the 473's in the III-C host, IIRC its still cheaper than the GB price.

Drop death?
Are 473nm diodes particularly sensitive to shocks ?

Cos I've dropped my O-like laser for god known how many times now.

My Lasever 473 is in a III-C host and I am almost certain it is cheaper than the GB price, I would have to double check the prices though.

Yeah... never drop a DPSS laser as that is an easy way to break it/knock the crystals out of alignment.

Well it's not a diode, it's a DPSS system using a pump diode and a crystal set. I have first hand seen how a fraction of a millimeter can drastically alter the output. To TEM modes not even found on tables, to nothing at all. I saw all this while trying to align my B&W Tek.

DPSS are VERY sensitive to drops, it could really misalign everything.
