So I take it 671nm are DPSS? that's pretty dark red, no?

Yes its dpss, in my experience it's basically a deep red, a little darker and dimmer than a 650. It's somewhat hard to tell the difference unless they're side by side, unlike 635, which is alot brighter and has a bit of an orange tint to it. It's really quite a pretty, and warm red color.

Dang this thread is definitely moving!! Feel a little lost after not checking it the last couple days... :can:
But, I had thought it was set up to where the discounts were determined by wavelength and not power though, or is that wrong?

Think that I'm for sure going to be in to grab one of the 500mW or 800mW 532s, at least;
But, just depends on whether we have enough people together to get the 10pc on the 589 or 473, if so I'd probably be in to pick up one of those instead or as well.
Just need to know how I'd calculate everything in and//or get some figures on the additional fees and actual prices worked up with enough time to have plans laid out accordingly when the orders are going out....

Do you have an idea or know when you're intending on starting to get the final tally on the orders together, and when you are trying to have this closed by?

Well, as this has fallen to me only a few hours ago I am still organizing my thoughts/ideas. I need to get the following info figured out before anything:

1. Best way to receive payments. My paypal is currently not a merchant account, so I cannot transfer more than 500 per month. Possibly USPS Money Orders where possible? Ill talk to past GB leaders adding regarding this.

2. I need to peruse the thread and find all requests such that I may submit them at once instead of a number of emails.

3. I need to calculate all costs so that final cost is known up front for all participants.

once I feel I have all the information necessary, including prices, I will open this up for the real deal. Once the GB has been opened, I will create a list of all those interested. Once the list has been confirmed, and ample time given for those who have yet to see it, I will begin the confirmation process to find out final prices and get the go ahead from all participants.

So a lot will depend on information flow from CNI and how decisive the participants are. One thing I will not do though is start this without knowing all aspects of what is needed and possible.

Any questions feel free to post here or PM me. I will try to answer everything as soon as I am able, but bear with me as I get my bearings. This will be my first time leading a GB, and I want it to go smoothly and leave everybody with a good taste in their mouth, as it were.

Thanks,
Isaac

I remember it was said earlier that the GB's packages will all be first shipped to the organiser before its redistributed right?
Wouldn't the postal cost be a bit.... OUCHY for those living an ocean away?
Let it be the pacific or the atlantic?

Maybe. You may actually save some money since CNI only ships FedEx (or was it UPS?) and that costs like 60 bucks for a PGL-III-C. I paid $35USD for DJNY to priority ship my 589 from Austria to the US. It took all of two days to get from his local post office to NYC. Of course customs took their sweet assed time which added almost two weeks to the delivery time.

You may pay a little extra in shipping but the overall GB savings will still make it much cheaper than ordering a one-off from CNI.

What sucked massive amounts of ass for me was the USD->Euro exchange. That hurt.

edit:

Forgot to ask on the 532s is the 10 piece discount only given if there are 10 of a given power i.e. 10 800mw or can that 10 be split over multiple powers? I'm really not a fan of 532 that much but my collection is missing a high powered 532 so I may possibly be interested in one.

I will inquire on that LtKernel, and i will ask them for each wavelength/form factor. Hopefully as long as 10 or more of a given wavelength are purchased we can get the 10pc discount.

One thing I am worried about with this, which I think is a legitimate worry, is being the handler of so much money. I want to make sure that there is no way I can get messed up by this GB, so if any previous GB runners have advice I will gladly take it.

Thanks. One thing I didn't think about is the money order. I have no problems with using them (and have in the past) but I don't know if I'll have enough cash on hand to be able to get one which is often why I use a CC because I know I can pay the amount off in a couple months. Hrmph.

edit: meant to say NO problems

What about two, and does that cover the entirety of the additional charges, or what is that all together?

Price will be split via this method:

All costs divided by number of lasers. So if you get two lasers, you pay double the per laser cost of shipping, insurance, etc. That is only for the cost of getting it from CNI to me though. From me to you would be exact cost.

This is the fairest way I can think to do it. I had to pay extra shipping in the laser GB as I bought two lasers, and I still think it is fair. If you buy two lasers I will ship them to you in one box.
