The color produced by mixing RED & GREEN is a nice YELLOW color, though I don't know what the wl is. rob

I should test my dichro! Would be nice to compare 589nm with dichro yellow!!

You'll be VERY surprised at the color difference. I have the CNI RED / GREEN = HYBRID YELLOW PGL from a prior GB, & when it's compared to my CNI PGL YELLOW, the difference is amazing. The only drawback is that the R + G = HY, produces some red & green speckling around the yellow. But this is common for that type of laser. rob

Rob,

How well aligned are those beams? I'm really thinking of one of those on the next GB (but i hear the price has gone up, from i think 350 to about 450) -- I'm just worried about getting one that produces a red and green separation at a far enough distance.

Does it really look like a yellow laser when operating like that?

The 3 beams on mine are VERY well aligned. Even at 16' the yellow STAYS yellow & does NOT split into red & green. There is one VERY slight (hardly noticeable) effect, & that at long distances, I get a VERY slight speckling effect of red & green "dots" around the edges of the beam's "dot". But you can hardly notice them at all, in fact, I kinda like them. They look "GICHY" (sweet, slick, cool). If you want the different mW out-puts for the 3 colors, let me know 'cause I already measured all 3 separately.rob

Well, cool. Definitely in the market for one of these then if Glenn can get the price previously paid on them... Seems like, at this point, the only way to get 'true yellow'.

What red WL did you get on yours?

..And, not that I want to steal the thunder of a possible new pure WL... Lets hope we hear back on that soon, too.

I haven't measured the WL of any of the colors, just the mW out-put. To my "expertly trained eyes" lol I'd estimate the red at ~660nm's. rob

I would love to see a portable or even lab style 568nm laser.

But I think that's to remain only in the realm of gas...

Edit: Although, there are 577nm OPSL lab style lasers from Coherent, but I've only seen them in 3000mW and 5000mW variants, which I'm sure cost $xx,xxx.

Wow, I would love one of those, especially in a portable! CNI makes 561nm in labbys, has anyone seen that in person, is it a true yellow, or closer to green. They have it advertised as yellow-green...

phoenix, what is the output power in mW for red, green, and yellow (combined)?

561nm would most likely be a yellow-green color, as it's only 7nm or 16nm (depending on if you prefer 561nm or 577nm), but it's definitely headed towards the yellow region.
@Glenn, sorry for the threadjack

@ oikos RED = 155mW's
GREEN = 40mW's
YELLOW = 185mW's, which is the TOTAL out-put for the laser, minus 10mW's in optics loss

:kewlpics:

very nice comparison... although some of them seem to have quite the bit of scatter/non-tem00-mode (may just be the camera). Loving the 501-514nm range and the "true yellow" 568nm (although not quite as much as 589nm :D)

peace & thanks
