@aryntha & oikos, It sounds like you two are getting some superb units!

@yobresal, I, too, purchased an 80mW PGL-M. Originally I ordered the PGL-C 50mW in GB8, but there was a little delay and I ended up "upgrading" my order to the 80mW PGL M.
I'm excited as well.

@Glenn, keep us updated! Thanks for the hard work. Maybe next time an order comes in I'll have to stop by and help you sort & test (and see all the cool lasers!). ;)

Hmm, that's cool. Hopefully they will both be nice and above spec. When I asked Glenn he said that no one else had ordered a PGL-III-M 80mW with this order.

A generous pal, (Mik) has sent some 18650 batts, (non-protected), so if you don't want a battery with your unit, let me know, otherwise, I will send one or two, Oh yeah, let me know if you want two as well. Most will be sent out tomorrow.
Packages for these folks are ready to go:
aryntha
yobresal
Mik
bug373
Twhite828
RA_Pierce

& mrbear (sending on the 9th so he'll be back home)
oikos... picked up in person.
Flaminpyro, I will see in person too!
Thanks Again! -Glenn

It seems so foolish to buy any generic brand of big green PGL with how overspec and relatively affordable the CNI's are in the GBs.

Thank you scopeguy for organizing these. I'm looking forward to seeing my new green. Sometime next week I assume!

Jelous of oikos & RA_Pierce's overspec 400's.

Thanks Mik, BTW, Your lasers were sent yesterday by USPS Priority mail, (insured), so, they will be there tomorrow or Thursday at latest. And it's got all the output most folks could want!

Still one 589nm PGL III -C laser on hand and ready to ship! It's rated 5 mW but hits 30+ mW peak and is 24 mW typical! $570 + shipping (about $16 in USA with Priority and insurance), + PP fee, (if paypal is used) -Glenn

Yep! I sent both with more insurance than usual...

Got my PGL-III-M 473nm 80mW.
First test on the meter: 110mW peak
Second test: 99mW peak

I will have a review up soon!

Edit: Next test... 40mW peak and dropping...
Something is not right.

Nice RA, I hope that the 40mW reading was just a fluke due to temp or batts or something other than the pump diode or crystal alignment. You got yours very fast! Makes sense though, you and Glenn are practically next door neighbors. I cannot wait to get mine. I just realized RA that the two of us have very similar laser collections.

Well, I'm consistently getting low power (<35mW avg.)from this unit now.
I sent a PM to Glenn already with the details. I think I smell RMA. :(
I waited so long for this, so it is very disappointing. I expect CNI to make this right.

The bright blue beam was impressive for the ~20 seconds I had to admire it.

Edit:
Yes, I too noticed the similarity in our collections. I am trying to collect the highest power level portables in each color. I normally do not keep more than 2 of each wavelength.

Maybe leave it be for an hour and then come back to it. Sometimes it can take a long time for these lasers to cool off after vigorous testing. I really hope your laser turns around for you bud.

I've let it cool for a pretty long time, even tried getting the case temperature down lower by letting it rest over a block of ice for a couple minutes.

The peak power is lower every time I turn it on.
This reminds me of pump diode failure in DPSS greens.

Another observation:
The laser is pulsed. Something like 2000Hz. It looks like CW unless the beam is moved very, very fast (Not necessarily a "con" IMO).

Edit: 1.64A draw from fully charged battery. Does that seem low?
