Thanks again for the info :thanks:
I didn't realize the "A" was the same laser as the Nova Alpha. Nova has better pics, if not perfect. Do we know who sells the M edition? I know that the C edition is Optotronics' RPL, so only the M is still a mystery.

The comparison may be moot though, as I am really aiming for a 532nm laser that puts out >300mW average. Thus, the A is out and the M may not get me there either... :undecided:

EDIT: Laserglow has great pics of the "A" host. As a matter of fact, their site rocks... :)

The Viasho handheld is the cousin of the RPL, not the C.

Dragonlasers sells CNI's pointer model (as Vipers), the PGL-C type lasers (as Hulks), and the M as Spartans.

yea LG's site is one of, if not the, best-designed laser websites out there. The Optotronics RPL is NOT a PGL-III-C, and has nothing to do with CNI (Opto manufactures their own products!) so I must say, that was a ridiculous statement

DragonLasers does have some decent pics, and there are quite a few YouTube videos on their products (which are all CNI) so when searching YouTube, search "Spartan" or "Hull Ultra" rather than "PGL-III-M" or "PGL-III-C". I'm looking for my dream 300-350mW 532nm in the "Spartan" M-Series host, and these power levels have been achieved before (in excess of 400mW!) so a repeat performance shouldn't be too difficult if we just bug CNI enough :poke:

and Glenn's quote on the 200mW M was $360... mine was $330 for one, and $320 for over 10 . Can't believe they gave Glenn the shaft like that.. oh well. Amy guesses on the quote for 300 or 325/350? I'm sure if we get more than one, they'll happily do <$500 ;)

oh and Glenn, ask if they'll do a 593.5nm 1mW for <$250 if we get enough people (GLP CR2 host would be nicer than AAA, IMO)

peace & thanks

Hey friends, CNI is being really slow to answer my questions atm, but please if there is a CNI price given on an individual unit, please let me know, if it's better than what I have offered, I can get CNI to lower my cost usually, but of course your price should include shipping w/ insurance.
btw, although I didn't get an answer yet from CNI, I lowered the cost of the PGL III-M-532 200 mW as much as I believe CNI will... to $325

Also, I asked the cost if we buy 10X GLP589nm >1mW

any idea what power output, mrbear? If you're planning on getting a power output beyond that which is available in the GLP pen host, consider the PGL-III-M discussed earlier in this thread, as it is a great alternative to the standard PGL-III-C's.

also Glenn, sorry for bombarding you with the questions for CNI, but do you think you could also inquire about the prices for 20mW-CW and 30mW-CW 473nm modules (CNI calls them 'cores') in the PGL-III-M-size? It would be greatly appreciated.

peace & :thanks:

I'd probably go for a 20-30 mW beastie. But until I've got the scratch laying around (like I said, May-June) I'm not even going to think about it. Got a fancy watch and some expensive pens to buy, too. And THOSE don't get cheaper as time goes on... ;)

Hey friends, I did get the answer on the >1 mW 589nm for CR2 and if we buy 10, then they will be about $250 (before shipping or PP fee if used).:wave::wave:

That is a sweet deal.
I will have to consider that.

However, I noticed that on the price list for the 589nm pens, the 5mW is $635 while the 5mW 593.5nm Rigel at Laserglow is $399.
I am not looking for a high power yellow (5-10mW is good enough for me) and if the price per mW is cheaper for the low powered 593.5nm pens I would rather go with one of those.

Is there anything in particular that makes 589nm superior to 593.5?

By the way, any word on the GB7 shipment?

They should be sending it out very soon, I asked to be extra sure they were carefully tested as I hate the RMA % we were having at one time... So it will be quite soon for both #7 and #8 Also, I don't know why but the newer 589nm ones are indeed more costly than the 593.5nm and I think this too will change after a number of months or a couple of years That's just a guess though... -GH

I think it was "yobresal" who was also interested in the PGL-III-C-532nm-800mW quote. I talked to "ava" from CNI:

PGL-III-C-532nm-800mW/Unit Euro1000.00 (~$1330)

+ They also have a 100mW PGL-III-C-589 :D

UPDATE
PGL-III-C-589nm-100mW/Unit Euro1150.00(~ $1500)

that's a breakthrough for 589nm! Glenn, you just made my day twice over! This not only means that a lot more people will be open to yellows, but now we should see the prices for 589nm come down altogether! If possible, please ask how much it'll be if we get ten people for 2mW 589nm CR2 and if we get ten people for 5mW. Let's see if we can get 2-5mW for around $310-ish ;)

oh and will they still do close to $250 if we get ~5 people?

thanks and I'm definitely gonna be in this, esp. if we can get closer to 2-5mW :wave::wave:

peace & thanks

EDIT: when you get a quote on 10 people for 2mW 589nm CR2 (and 5mW), ask if we can do 10 people combined (so say 5 people get the 1mW, 2 people get 2mW, and 3 people get 5mw)

Like Spartan, the PGL III-M-532 nm series lasers:
PGL III-M-532nm 100mW $190
PGL III-M-532nm 150mW $235
PGL III-M-532nm 200mW $325
Now I am new to this whole group buy thing but when I did a live chat "Vivien" said this exactly. "The price for the PGL-III-M-532-200mW is USD270.00/pc. Could someone please explain.

She may not have included insured shipping?
