I"m thinking about it, if i do i'm not turning it up much maybe 150-175 as i don't want to over do it. I can't believe how small the hole is, no wonder why i couldn't feel it when running my finger nail over the lables.

Well my 255mW HL450 laser just survived a 10minutes on time in the case. The aperture shutter was closed and I didn't see the dim red LED.
The laser was very warm when I touch it. :D

Ouch^ I'm pretty sure poking a hole through that label would void the warranty.

Yes it is your own risk! However if you receive a underspec laser. And with permission of kevin to potmod it. It could be a solution! Like kadath his HL460 that could be a solution. Although he measured 86mW which is just a few mW underspec.

Well if I'll need a TEC there's no need for me to turn that pot. ^ May be a good solution if kevin allows it, though it'll be harder to consider a warranty if you kill the laser

The HL450 laser use a linear driver so when you potmod it you can read the diode current at the tailcap. Use this output chart for your goal, http://laserpointerforums.com/f65/osram-pl450-450nm-80mw-power-chart-71645.html

The lensbarrel is the half-threaded barrel and standard size so you can use a G lens in the DTR brass barrel without problem. The manufacturer lens is remarkable good. It lies between a G lens and the 3-element glass lens.

Don't you love sending a bag of parts to this guy

About the lens. I think the beam specs are also very good my PL445 has a very good divergence compared to other 445's. I would like to have some of those lenses to make the decision between G and 3-element easier.

@ kadath what does the tailcap current of your HL460 laser measure at?

Not so good quallity picture, but it sure shows nicely the difference between 520 and 532nm :D

I love this laser :D

What power is the 532nm laser ? You did a matching brightness between these two laser.

Don't you love sending a bag of parts to this guy

Next time I am going to order the DIY PL laser. :D
