if i can find enough takers, i will go out and buy a casio projector. Right now they are $699, making all the LD`s worth about $30 a piece! I will buy one and ship the LD`s out if i can get 23 or more takers. I think that will make them about $35 after shipping. I know i am a new member, so if everyone is worried about my status, i will put them up on e-bay(where you can see my rating) for purchase. Let me know if your interested.

In my opinion...you are too new here for the Forum Members to trust
you with their money....:cryyy:
You have one (1) Post and no reps at all............

I do understand. I am not asking for money upfront, thats why i suggested ebay... but even still, someone else can buy, so at least everyone knows... here is the link for those interested: Casio XJ-A130

You gain rep by recieving it from other members, if you post helpful responses, or show
off impressive builds you can get rep from people who appreciate what you have done.

Ok... Well, my whole thing is that i wanted to help people out(and myself) by saving a couple bucks. Wasnt looking for money upfront or to make a profit, but i dont have a lot of "expendable" cash. So i was just looking for interested parties, so i could determine whether spending $700 dollars would yield a return on my investment and i wouldnt be stuck with 24 LD`s, only one of which i plan on using... lol.

And how do you build reps?

You gain rep by recieving it from other members, if you post helpful responses, or show
off impressive builds you can get rep from people who appreciate what you have done.

You could also just go ahead and buy this yourself and then sell the diodes at cost.

Trust me. If you offer these diodes at ~$33 (with postage and packaging), they will sell. ;)

Of course you will still have to prove that you know how to protect for ESD damage in harvesting and shipping

Peace,

Maybe i should repost with the explanation of intent, rather than the assumption of people paying upfront? I mean the ebay thing is a good idea, for someone with no rep, i think? after all, paypal guarantees the sale, and out of my 100+ or so transactions, as a seller and a buyer, i am at 100%... is that feasable or reasonable?

That was the actual thought, just wanted to make sure there was enough interest...

Hmmmmm... as far as the rest, let me start by saying that the leads should be shunted with a pc jumper, and then placed in an antistatic bag, or bag that has been treated with antistatic spray. As far as harvesting, I havent "officially" harvested an LD, but dealing with sensitive electronics is in my resume. One would assume (on the side of caution), no contact with the face of the LD, very low heat for only a brief time in desoldering(much like surface mount components) and in a dust free(or at least "controlled") environment. As far as shipping, obviously in the static bag, wraped in some small bubble wrap, in a padded envelope.

Did i miss anything, or is that a little over the top? :D

oh, and use of a grounding strap during harvesting.

Use a temperature just a bit above "normal" for you, not as low as possible as you state.
The more heat you use results in more quickly removing the ribbon and with less heat transfered to the diode.

And ground the soldering iron's shaft.
