I'm totally new to this forum so forgive me if I's saying something stupid, but from what I've read so far I'm definitely interested in ordering the final product. Is there any talk of constructing a green wavelength version? How about a 2MW green version and call it the "Hulk".

Even though a key lock would not be a necessity (keeping the batteries out works), it would look pretty cool with the key lock and I'd be more than willing to pay extra for it. And with something this powerful an extra safety (if you chose to use it) couldn't hurt could it?

@DoEuTh
you should introduce yourself in the 'welcome' section of the forum. ;)
uuh.. you mean't "mW" or "MW"? and 'the "hulk" already exists...

and Pontiac isn't willing to put safety locks on the hosts; extra work IMO (that has been discussed before).

We don't fabricate green modules. A 500mW+ module from a respectable seller is going to be more expensive than you think. 445nm is the only wavelength that is absurdly cheap for multiple watts.

How about a 2MW green version

If you are thinking milliwatts (mW), why not get a regular pointer? If you're actually thinking megawatts (MW), do you really think that is (A) possible in a pointer or (B) a good idea?

Besides, the highest power 532nm system I've ever heard of was a 120W pulsed system for surgery. It costs in the hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars. That won't come close to fitting in a pointer, and what you want is more than 16,000 times more powerful!

and call it the "Hulk".

Dragonlasers already did it.

Yeah, it's a necessity if you want a 2MW laser. And based on the fact that you want a 2MW laser, it's definitely necessary - because you clearly have no experience with lasers.

UNFORTUNATELY.

He wants one in a pointer, so your argument isn't valid :crackup:

You forgot the OD >11 goggles for CW use. ;)

Don't be silly, guys! Everyone knows that in order to make a laser in the YottaWatt range you just twist the pot 100,219,210,321,392,390213 degrees in the right direction.

You have to use an AR lens though, otherwise it tends to evaporate. Also, don't twist it even one degree more or the diode explodes.

On topic:

Care to update the OP with names of people interested? I'm pretty sure the list is over twice as long now. :p
