Just to mitigate any size misunderstandings, it appears you may get a better idea of proportions if the pictures are viewed from around 5-6 feet from your monitor... :D

I will get a more detailed numbers up later but at firs glance this diode is giving me 636mW@500mA.

Not as efficient even as the one I tested? Interesting. The, "Other Sled", is looking better and better but no sustained comparisons of course.

Thanks for letting me know it has arrived, (I've updated the front page), and the initial figures, I look forward to more. I'll add them into graph done by Bionic-Badger.

Just for info...

I don't know whether you removed the ribbon from the diode pins while the diode was bare but the usual advice is to remove it before extracting it from the sled heatsink. It reduces the risk of killing the diode with heat. ;)

DTR, I'm confused about the part where you open up the package to take out the box with the sled in it. Can you cover that in more detail? ;)

I will put up a full unboxing tutorial as soon as I get a chance. The tape is the tricky part but I have a great technique.:beer:

Though sadly, it is kind of a pain to open those kinds of envelopes if you're not keen to cut the thing to pieces.

I worked shipping as a flat $3 rate for this first GB, Mike, so total of $63 to you. (You're on the list in the thread posted below ;) ).



A couple of guys have been confused where to post for the 2nd Round so I'll see if the Mods can merge the two and I'll change the title. The 2nd round is actually here -

Can you indicate the good diode we are after on the "other " sled "?
I'll get it out..........lol.......I think I remember that the not wanted one is a flat red?

There's a right tool for open anything ..... you just need to use the right tool .....

I mounted up one "flat" diode and it is a PITA !!!!!! They are a good diode however if you have the tooling to mount it in a heat sink.
