120mW O-Like Nichia Diode Feeler

too bad we couldn't get these for say 50 bones o-like would sell the crap out of them then

I do believe that these diodes are the only realistic alternative to the elusive 6X. That said, as long as I can buy a pile of PHRs for the same price as one of these diodes (or a 6X for that matter), that's where I'll be putting my money. The power increases just aren't significant enough to warrant the extra cost IMHO. Now the 8X on the other hand.. That I would pay good money for.

Both the "old" and "new" 6x's are GGW-H20L.
Igor is referring to the degrading 6x he has had for a long time.

I read all of Igor's thread and although he does like the 6X better, he shows that the Nichia is very close to the 6X...

I like this GB Sypder, except I would ask if there is a break for a lesser number than 150.

It may take too long to get 150 total count...

I never said you were sketchy. What I meant was the thread was sketchy. The only info was from you and NOT the thread starter. Get it? If I'm asked if I want to buy something I expect to get all the info on the product and my questions answered. Yeah you stepped up, but not Spidey, and for me personally is unprofessional. Thus sketchy. IMO Id rather "waste" $120 on something I know the complete facts on. But that's just me.

Just don't think that the diode is a bad diode.  There was research done on these diodes and I think that I proved that.  

As for Spyderz20x6, well, that's a whole nother subject.  Maybe I was just faster to respond than him.  I trust him.  I think that the majority of people on here trust him as well. :-/

Yes, to me, the GGW is not worth $120.  We already know that this diode can almost keep up with the GGW.  
Although, I can understand wanting the security factor in a diode.

First... thanks to those individuals...

I as well as many members here have heard of the inconsistencies within
the same type of Laser Diode from one to the other...
Just look at Jayrobs "8X" freak SL-AW210 and "less than 6X" SL=AW210 from the
same sled type..
Those (IMO) are due to the manufacturing processes/variations....
We are driving these LDs way over what they were designed for...

Correct me if I'm wrong... but on the majority of the Graphs I've seen...
I believe only 1 LD was used to produce that specific chart. I don't believe
a large cross section of same type diodes were used to produce any chart..
(it would be very time consuming and expensive for all those test LDs.. IMO)

The differences of the 2 LDs on the above charts seem so small that...
manufacturing variations could possibly account for the differences if
both LDs were the same type...  :-/

According to this article the 6x is 250mW (which I can only assume is its pulsed rating) but the Nichia diode diode is the closest thing anybody can get to the 6x at this point. Just my .02 dollars.

I don't have a laser power meter, but I will let you know how it compares when it comes to it's burning power and Beam.

Everbody forgets that the 6x sled comes with a hardy 16x red bad boy. that's 2 for one.

This was a prudent statement when they were $60.00 a pop. Now that I'm saying that if you had some

set aside for a rainy day then your feeling good about things now.

I have had several diodes die on me pre-maturely lately.  This could have easily been my fault.

Also, I may have had a freak diode....because at that current I was able to make wood smoke/burn even when it was focused to infinity. I didn't even have to focus it down to a small dot.
