SPECTROGRAPHIC ANALYSES OF FLUORESCENCE IN OBJECTS WHEN IRRADIATED WITH THE WICKED LASERS SPYDER 3 ARCTIC 445NM 1W BLUE DIODE LASER

This post will be for nothing but spectra of objects fluorescing (glowing) when irradiated with the Wicked Lasers Spyder 3 Arctic 445nm 1W Blue Diode Laser; plus three spectra of the tricolor LED in its battery charger and two of LEDs in the Arctic itself and two of LEDs in the Arctic itself:

Ocean Optics USB2000 Spectrometer donated by P.L.

This is a long post with at least 119 images on it; dial-up users please allow for plenty of load time.
Somebody set up us the bomb.

Very nice analysis OP. Can you also provide experimental setup and equipment used?
Also remember to perform error analysis

Is it really necessary to bump your thread every time you edit it? It fills the first page of the reviews section with a lot of your threads... ><

-Trevor

Actually, on most BBSs anyway, it is.
But I can refrain from doing that here if that would be desireable. :)

Also remember to perform error analysis

I use an Ocean Optics USB2000 spectrometer, and direct the radiation directly into the instrument's light input aperture without the fiber optic element getting in the way of or attenuating certain wavelengths/wavelength ranges.

Spectrographic analyses typically take place after sunset or before sunrise to minimise the effects of ambient light possibly queering the test; the instrument itself is positioned well away from computer monitors, indicator LEDs, or any other sources of artifical lighting for that matter so as to avoid contaminating the results when each spectrum is taken.

As for error analyses, I use the "Electric Dark Correction" function of the furnished SpectraSuite software to lower the baseline; secondly, I finish lowering the baseline manually so that it really is at the bottom. This compensates for detector noise.
Finally, I narrow the detector's optical response to a range between 380nm and 780nm so that only visible EM radiative output is recorded.

Hope this info. finds itself at least minimally useful to you. :)
