^That's my knowledge as well, suiraM, with one slight exception. The one unlikely strangelet theory, there is some hypothesis that that interaction has happened already, but that is happens far from earth. In that case, it would be created with a charge, but it has ample time to somehow decay to a neutral state before encountering any earth-bound matter. This hypothesis goes that if strange particles were created in the LHC, they would be negatively charged and not have time to decay to a neutral state, and would therefore be MUCH more likely to encounter a positively-charged nucleus since it's so close to normal matter. That's really the only thing I've heard/read that makes it any different than what already happens in space or the upper atmosphere.

Umm, its the 10th today, but then again, i'm GMT +10, so it happens ermm...
Damn timezones, confusing.

bbl going to go hide in my bomb shelter (Not that I have one, or will ever need one )

They are planning on the first beams at 12:30am EST (east coast US time). But none of the outlandish things could happen today/tonight, or anytime this month. They are turning on only 1 beam, and only at about 7% power. So particles, for now, will only be going around in one direction, so no collisions. The first collisions are planned for October 21, but if the next month goes like the last 5 years have gone for this project, that one month will be delayed and turn into 3 months anyway. ;)

It's quarter to 11 AM (GTM+1) Italian time....
Nothing is happened. We're still alive!!!
I was with my telescope and with a compass, but all was normal.
We wait for October 21th...

Ofcourse nothing happened. It is well known that micro black holes decay in an instant by Hawking radiation. They are well below the threshold for stability and eminating more entropy than they ever could attract in the same time. Even stable black holes will eventually completely decay if the supply of entropy is cut off.

There was nothing created so far, they aren't colliding anything. They only circulated a beam in one direction, no collisions, no possibility for anything to happen. It still remains to be seen if the kooks are right and if microblackholes will be created, that will happen months down the road. The kooks are wrong, I think, but it remains to be proven if they area wrong or right.

Yes, I know the Hawking radiation.
And know that today is only a little test for the LHC.
I have only joked :)

i don't know much about black holes but does anyone think they know where the stuff goes after it goes into a black hole or what happens?

I don't know where the stuff will go.
I have read, and I think, that in a black hole anythings will be a "singleness" (I don't know the correct word in English, in Italian it's "Singolarità").
Singleness is when you are nothing never... A point without any known geometrical dimensions, also without time dimension.

Yes, basically whatever is sucked into it will become part of the extremely dense mass that is a black hole.

Heh.
Dunno if anyone's gone over this but...
the main reason nothing happened, is this.
They weren't colliding anything.
They were testing it with one beam in one direction. Couple weeks, one beam in the other direction.
Couple more weeks, then they go with 2 beams in 2 directions.
Then it happens.

QFT.
They haven't actually collided anything yet and they only ran the machine at 7% power. On oct 21st they plan on doing the first actual collision and that's when something cool might happen.
