Why would it be a bad idea? and I think Camp Leatherneck is a USMC base, just a guess.

Did you even think about what you just said? Why would it be a bad idea to shine Your big ol laser beam In the sky from your military base? Well let's see, how about all of the insurgents that would love to suicide bomb kill any American troops any way possible etc etc etc?

Seems pretty cut and dry to me

Ok, look JakeGT. I have been trying to remain tactful and respectful because this foum freshly welcomed me here, but if you are serious, and you lash out against the consideration of my posts' content, then think twice, for all of our sakes. I presume that your public self embarassment is not something any of us here would like to see, am I right?

Camp Leatherneck is an established United States Marine Corps Base (since 2008) and even my twelve year old sister with reading disabilities can find this information.
It is not some covert waypoint behind enemy lines.

Protip: never say etc. etc. etc.

Much love
Nocturne<3

p.s. To answer your question, yes, I was and still am curious as to what makes giving my best friend since 6th grade who is a motivated, dedicated, and commited United States Marine as well as a trained marksman and with various firearms a simple death ray or two.

Yeah, this is a great forum with great members. BUT you sir are very unintelligent. And if I have to explain ANY reason why shipping a 1W laser to a freaking military base in Afghanistan is a bad idea, then you sir are the biggest idiot I have ever met.

I have a friend who I have known since I was 3 years old. 3 years old. BEST FRIEND EVER. He is IN Qatar, right now. I talked to him on the phone yesterday. He tells me everyday how he can't wait to get home and play with my lasers, but told me to never ever try and send one to him, because That would be very very dumb. He said there is no reason he should have a high powered laser overseas, while he is fighting a WAR.

And dear god, I hope you never ever get enlisted into the united states military, cause If you do, all hope is lost. We'll get our butts kicked out there.

Jake... No need for name calling.
If you disagree you should do it politely using a rational argument rather than an emotional rant.

I don't really see what the problem is. A marine is trained to use all sorts of potentially hazardous tools so I see no reason why he should not be allowed to use what is essentially a laser pointer in a secure and established military base...

This guy was talking down to me like I was an idiot, and I don't take very kindly to that.

Either way. If he wants to shine his laser beams in the sky, on a United States military base, go for it.

It's illegal to do in your backyard, so why shouldn't you do it on a military base in the middle of a war?

He was just trying to save me from public self embarrassment.
Lol, kid you could never embarrass me. Maybe push my buttons, but never will you embarrass me ;)

jakeGT, we use lasers for all sorts of things here. 2nd brigade 4ID all have lasers on our weapons. There are several, good, reasons why we have them to.

Coherent Light, 99% of the things in the sky here don't have visible blinking lights.

As Nocturne noted, it's not a secret that we're here. In fact, we use lasers as a form of intimidation, one of the good reasons why we have them, so we clearly display them. Look into our EOF, and see where that falls into play.

I came to this post looking for legal issues/ways to get a laser here. We use them for bore sighting, another one of the good reasons, but the ones we have suck. I for one, want a better one that can be chambered. It's not every day that we can go confirm our zero with our crew-serve weapons.

Keep an open mind man.
P.S. - jakeGT. Killing American's isn't their only goal either. Read the news, son. They have other marks. As PSD, they want to bypass us to get to their mark. Killing us trying to do so only nulls their plan.
