What I can tell you is that if you do have retinal damage, the sooner you get to the doctor, the sooner they can save your vision. The retina can peel off and completely, permanently blind an eye from a small burnt point over time. Retinal damage is the major risk factor for bright lights, but its likely not the case here.

The pressure and dilation are a huge concern though. Dilation is neurologic response, so something's probably interfering with the nerves if your vision isn't mostly gone. Pressure and poor vision are symptoms of life-threatening conditions, so please, please see a doctor whether it be a GP, emergency room, or ophthalmologist doesn't matter at this point.

Edit: Top reasons for these sorts of symptoms are strokes, epilepsy, diabetes, and physical eye injury. Again, none of these are something you should wait on.

He is not one and can't diagnose nor give
or state medical advice.

Since i bin in the forum i see so many new members make the first post i damaged the eye, or i shinned it in me eye, the eye is pooping, laser reflected i cant see and its always left eye or something weird,
makes you thing you can spend 1h writing a post perfect and you have eye damage, its strange all this newbies wait to get eye damage and then join the forum.
but owned a laser for 2y or more, :thinking:

I think most of them are one individual who keeps trolling the forum and this is one subject they normally can get a meal out of.

Definitely true. I only have a background in first aid, but my only medical advice was to go see a doctor because there are big risk areas, so please do see one.

I know many of these topics can be trolls, but i'm sure there is the serious question once in a while too, and i think we should still urge people to seek medical care no matter what.

I'd rather entertain 10 trolls than let 1 person sustain permanent eye damage that could be prevented if medical care was taken soon.

Also things like uneven pupil sizes could be worrysome and have little to do with a laser strike.

Excellent point--be responsible people telling them all to see an MD is the only thing to do--however--this OP was told many times and was taking issue with everyone telling him the obvious--the OP had a really bad attitude problem --see post # 6

Oh sure, though people can give you strange attidude when they are actually having a problem and just freaking out about it.

Another thing is that these threads end up in google results, and people might go read them before taking action. Therefore it would be best if they are either deleted, or the advise should be to seek medical attention right away.

The issue is that time is a real factor here that can make an enormous difference in the final outcome of a situation. If you break a bone but it's not a complex fracture it doesn't really matter that much if you go to hospital a day later or something.

majority will seek professional help immediately if
that person feels he has perhaps damaged his
body... That is common sense..

To go to a non-medical forum looking for medical
advice is absurd.... pure and simple or it is a Troll
attempt.

Why would that person not go to a medical Forum
or do a simple Google search with their symptoms...
That is common sense and logical.........

If time was a factor... that is what he would have
done.

Make a sticky with all of the go see a doctor immediately, time is of the essence advice and when ever someone comes in with another of these threads, point them to that link.

Obvious to me some troll keeps using this subject to get a quick meal, maybe if we could point him to that information and not respond he will stop doing that? Nah... probably not.

I don't it is that strange to ask the question on a laser forum, it is a very specific injury and i suppose the average GP or even ER staff have never dealt with one. Once source i found stated that 'about a dozen' people are (partially) blinded a year, in the UK (which has over 60 million citizens).

So it's literally something in the order of 1 in a million people that sustain such an injury, making it extremely rare for medical staff to encounter.

This is a problem in itself because they may not even be aware of treatment options, but at least can refer you to an expert.


One reason i think people come and ask is that they suspect it may just heal on its own, and want to avoid the medical costs of having it checked. I suppose this would be mostly the case in the US where a lot of people have no health insurance and medical care is extremely expensive for uninsured people.
