Thank you guys for all your posts and seriously buy goggles this has caused so much stress for me... I told my mom, I think that she thought I was just paranoid though, well I sold my laser to my school teacher, and with this, I leave LPF, I may check in every once in a while as I plan on building another laser in the months to come, but for now its too much, my grades are slipping and its time to buck up, but I will rejoin you guys in the future, By the way, I discovered that I have floaters and I definitely have burns... Well Good Bye and safe lasering LPF users, I hope you welcome me again in the future:rolleyes:

You got a medical confirmation of retinal burns? That surprises me considering what happened...

ILADB, I'm sorry for what happened to you & also to hear that you're leaving LPF. I really don't see why you have to leave us, you COULD just be a lurker. Stay with LPF, keep up to date on laser developments, new lasers coming out, new information, etc. Nobody says that you HAVE to post, but you can STILL stay on top of new developments in the world of lasers so that when you DO decide to return to the fold, you won't be so far behind in what's been going on here. Since you say your grades are slipping, just visit us once a week. That should keep you pretty much current in the world of lasers, but not effect your grades. Ultimately though, the final decision on what to do is yours of course, & if you decide you must severe all ties with us, well, I'll be sad to see you go, but you know what's best for you.
Good luck with bringing your grades back up, & I pray that there is no lasting damage to your eyes from your accident. If/when you DO come back, remember to re-introduce yourself to us in the GREETINGS SECTION of the Forum.
Good By & Good Luck................rob

I wouldn't give any advice on telling your parents unless I knew them. This one girl I know thought that she was pregnant, everyone told her to tell her parents that they would be understanding but when she told them her dad really beat her up badly. Noone could've guessed that her dad wouldve reacted that way.

Is he in jail now? He should be

No, I didn't go to a doctor, burns are the only explanation that makes sense, and I just got my ASVAB back today, and man, I wish these scores counted toward school lol, I did like really good... and no I can't get medical confirmation anyway because I got my eyes checked before school, and our insurance allows kids to get their eyes checked once per year, and we REALLY can't afford any medical bills right now even if a checkup isn't that expensive. So yeah I dont think I'll leave for good I check in a couple times a day, not a lot really and I don't think It really has a lot to do with my grades, but I do need to study more lol, but even If I DO give up lasers I'm never giving up the electronics spark that has been ignited inside me by this hobby, I love soldering lol.

Hi ILADB, It's good to hear that you're not leaving permanently. That "electronics spark)
you spoke of is indeed a MOST DIFFICULT 'spark' to be extinguished. I just hope that you learned a VERY VALUABLE lesson. I'm sure the entire Forum will agree with me that we all hope there was no 'permanent damage' done................. rob

Thank you for your kind words:thanks: Speaking of electronics I'm rigging up some L.E.D.s for an art project to make a Raiden mask with glowing eyes!
This Guy: gosh I love Metal Gear Solid, I'm making his Helmet

Essentially I'm attempting this:

I've had a floater for years I blamed on a burn from a Spectrometer's IR source and focused by microscope mirror optics. I now understand it might be unrelated. I wasn't paranoid, but I use safety glasses all the time now.

Knowledge and research are key
