11 October 2013 New and expanded FDA list of firms and their products subject to Detention without Physical Examination (DWPE) under Import Alert 95-4 (a.k.a. Red List) named "Detention Without Physical Examination Of Laser Pointers, Laser Gunsights, Laser Levels, Laser Light Shows, Laser Pointer Key Chains, & Similar Products That Fail To Comply With Applicable Performance Standards And Reporting Requirements."

Surprisingly, Laserglow is on the list. Several others newly listed also

See: Import Alert 95-04

I appears that recent LPF discussions about increased scrutiny by FDA of laser manufacturers and products were well founded.

Dragon lasers was on this list before I ordered my hulk ultra. I know they are bound to still get through, but this is surely concerning.

just let thembe the FDA, they'll piss in their pants a little while, then cry a little, and give it up. like a cute little baby. besides, they have to pretend they are doing something about the "issue". thats how the US has such a pretty debt figure.

Lg is the only one compliant correct. Everyone else is still willing to ship.

I wonder if Laserglow is on the list because they haven't acquired proper accession numbers for their rebagged laser products -- even if the originals would have accession numbers if directly imported?

Well looks like the US is moving up to the Nanny Country status like Nannyralia has been for a while.,still depends on luck of the draw and what those companies put on their parcels ,they must know they are on the list or will do so very shortly and revise greatly how they pack and what they call the items. This still doesn't guarantee you will get your laser .I Sweat it out just getting a laser module that under xray is very small and harmless looking,past customs ....

At least NOVALasers isn't on the list :)

589nm Dragonlasers Aurora 3mW (estimated power 10mW)

3pcs eBay Pens 405nm,532nm,650nm OVERSPEC AT LEAST 80-100mW

You are likely to never have heard this saying " loose lips sink ships"
Everytime someone on this forum says I have an over spec laser from such and such company you alert the FDA. Keep that in mind the next time.

Yes and the rest on list are from China and hong Kong (Asia) as well..except laserglow Canada ....Interesting as dragon and wicked laser guarantee delivery ....well until till its in my hand the guarantee is just words, getting your cash back, if after a couple of tries fails that isn't a guarantee. Actually getting the laser is ...

When I contacted dragon lasers in September, they were aware they've been on the list since late August. Adam didn't seem to mind. "it's been this way for a while now, and we manage"

What The Heck Districts may detain without physical examination (DWPE) all shipments of the same product as was originally found violative such as laser pointers, laser gunsights, laser levels, laser pointer key chains, laser light show projectors, and similar products (covered laser products) from the manufacturers/shippers listed on the attachment to this alert.

In addition, covered laser products are subject to detention if, among other reasons, an examination shows they do not appear to comply with the appropriate standard as follows:

(1) The laser product does not have a permanently attached warning logotype label;
(2) The laser product output exceeds 5 milliwatts;
(3) The laser product fails to contain certification or identification information either on the product or in the instructions for use;
(4) The laser product fails to contain instructions for safe use;
(5) The product class or output information on the laser product's warning logotype label is different from that in the instructions for use; and/or
(6) A product report for the laser product has not been submitted. ***
If im reading that right Projectors cant exceed 5 mW ?
