Alright, so I'm going to be buying an 80mW 405nm pointer, and all the options for safety glasses are a little confusing. Could someone please give me a good, basic, scientific explanation of the different specifications of laser glasses, along with a link to a decent (as in, like, under $30) 405nm pair? Thanks!

I'd suggest the search option... there are some good advice in there for laser safety glasses.... and some in depth explanations I believe...... but are your eyes only worth $15 each?.....
The lowest spec I'd go are these (bare in mind I'm new to the hobby too) :-
Laser Safety Glasses, Goggles, Eyewear :: Dragon Lasers

I've tested them with 2.3w and nothing appeared to pass through... though I certainly wouldn't take a risk with a direct hit...
Less than $20 a pair.... but if you wanted to share your experience in doors with your laser you need a pair for everyone...
Playing safe is far better than accepting responsibility for someones loss of eyesight.

Personally I'd rather have the Dragon Laser pair over those Clearout... much more durable and a choice of adjustable straps or legs for fitting.... but that's just my opinion... Either them or a dearer set of Eagle Pair ;-)
