How do you store your laser collection?

At the moment, I have all my laser stuff and optics in a drawer in my desk. But the space is limited and my interest in lasers is growing - so I need another solution :)
I'm thinking of a metal cabinet, which should be lockable, because I have two small daughters. I don't want to risk that they hurt themselves by accident.

How do you store your lasers and optics? Are there any ideas for a useful cabinet (drawers VS compartment, original boxes VS self made optics storage,...).

I'm looking forward to see, how the lasers of the LPF 'live' :yh:

Sparsed here, there and everywhere (i live almost alone, so no kids problem) ..... one of these days, when i have some free time (free time ? ..... what's "free time" ? ..... it's edible ? ..... can i wear it ? ..... how much it cost ? ..... :p :D), i need to classify all my lasers and modules for know how much of them i have around and decide what to keep and what to sell ..... (i actually don't know exactly how much lasers and modules i have around, literally :p)

First off, I live alone.

I have a few low-power (<50mW) pointers on my desk. These are the one I use virtually daily and use to simply show visitors the different colors available.

The vast majority of my hand-held lasers (including my "personal" lasers) are kept in a gun safe.

Argon lasers, HeCd lasers, and my large HeNe lasers are stored in shelving in my "office."

My "regular" HeNe lasers are mostly stored in a drawer in my office.

There are a few HeNe tubes, that are in need of repair in shelves as well.

My HeNe lamp is sitting on the top shelf of my desk ;)

Peace,

with one of those magnetic window alarms attached to the draw for when people are over. :) :gun:
cant ever be safe enough with lasers.

oh and the draw underneath has all the electronics bits and pieces. :)

EDIT:I got the foam with the felt from Incasesolutions and cut the inserts myself.

@BrightSpark

That is pretty darn awesome :p I've made a few custom cases with foam inserts and locks.

1+

BrightSpark is the man  This is exactly what I'm looking for! But lockable. Every laser has a nice place, don't get dirty, don't drop, ...very professional. 1+ for this nice laser home :gj:

The idea of the gun save is very good, too. Probably a combination would be the best - a lockable gun save with foam inserts and plenty space for all my optics. I only need to convince my wife that we need a gun save

Seems I have to visit IKEA! Probably they have a lockable drawer unit, too. In any case cheaper than a gun save.

Thanks for sharing your storage methods - from 'organized' mess to clean and professional cabinet

Thanks for the link. But in a save there is not enough space for my optics - its even smaller than a single drawer! And with this hobby I don't have too much money to store in a save :p
