In our production line ,we are using Rofin Laser power line E model (RSM-10E) to mark Matrix ID on the product. According to my study, I already know the following.

    • It is using Pulsed wave mode.
It is invisible laser (Near Infrared) because it’s wavelength (1.064µm) fall in between (0.7-1.4µm)
It is Class 4 laser (Nd:YAG with maximum output 10W)
      It have wavelength of 1064nm.
      It is a diode pumped Nd:YAG laser(Q-switched).
It has Gaussian Beam profile because its beam quality is TEM00 which has high resolution.

But I still need to know following parameter to define the NHZ.

What is Beam divergence?
What is Radiant power?
What is Diameter of emergent laser beam?

I could not find these parameter in my Rofin laser manual. How could I find these parameter to define NHZ. My project is to define the NHZ and take necessary control for working with class 4 laser.

Re: How to define Nominal Hazard Zone for class 4l

You will probably have to contact the manufacturer. I would have thought that information would have been provided somewhere in their literature. Since you are marking/etching your beam path is enclosed through to the scan head. Perhaps, if the scan head is not a Rofin manufactured unit those specifications are in separate documentation.

Thanks for your time and consideration.
I will check with Rofin Laser.
