I don't recommend buying the safety glasses on ebay (the eyes are precious). If you can not spend much, I advise you these from Elitelasers EliteLasers | Accessories that I have personally tested :)

It guarantees protection, and also shows a picture of the laser being shone through the goggles. Also, they look almost exactly alike. Thoughts?

while they may be perfectly legit, it's also possible that the demonstration in video is using a more difuse or less powerful laser than is claimed.

the concern from most people is that since anyone can post items on E-bay, there is a realistic chance of getting homemade laser glasses that might not ever have any protection against lasers beyond colored film

Yes, I'm agree :)

Also, how do you know the "nm"?

Here Laser Glasses - UV to Green Lasers Protection 190-548nm :: Laser Safety :: Dragon Lasers there are other cheap goggles, but I prefer those by Elitelasers.

I also recommend the goggles from DragonLasers. I have two of them and they are very good. My 1W blue spartan looks like a <5mw red through them and it blocks green light just as well.

I've just recently updated my spartan review with some extra info about the safety goggles, just click the link on my signature.

I'm a little bit new to lasers but I have a 50mW Green laser pointer, and I'm a little paranoid about my vision. I definately want some goggles but I don't have boatloads of money to spend.

I was wondering if maybe a cheap pair like such would saffice for my laser, or if I should go with something different.

I did a short guide a while back for new users, covering topics such as when you do / don't need to use goggles. You might find it helpful. It took me a while to work this stuff out:
