I'm thinking about making myself some safety glasses, i work with stage lights at work and we got lots of colored gel we use for lights, is there a certain shade of red (i think red is best, i'm not sure), or rating to use with green lasers?

It is not only the shade, but the optical density you need to worry about - since I am by no means an occular genious, I buy safety goggles, and let others do the research, and pay them my hard earned $50.00 !

Watch --

The colors coming through colored jells is NOT laser light. Laser is coherent and that means that it can be tightly focused - more than a stage light. Two different worlds. The focus of a small green pointer can be brighter than the sun -- No $H!T
Read these forums and learn what a laser can do. Safety glasses are "tuned" to specific ranges of wavelength. Cool sunglasses don't qualify unless tested.
