Eye Floaters!!

Hi everybody. I've recently noticed small translucent blob things moving around in my vision sometimes. I looked them up and found out there floaters. I also found out that they don't really go away. Could floaters be caused by lasers? I don't have any high-powered lasers, though. I think I'm just paranoid. And how many of you have floaters? I'm kinda freaked out even though they are supposedly harmless. I haven't noticed anything else wrong with my vision. thanks

My brother has the same thing "Floaters" . He has no idea where they came from and they couldn't of come from lasers for him. Honestly I think when you have LaserToEye damage it is in one spot and it doesn't move because it's burned into that one spot. So like if the left top of your right eye had the burn it would always be black there. I really don't know for sure tho. Someone might know personally and will reply.



EDIT: the doctor told him it's pretty common

Yeah I asked a lot of my friends and most of them said they have it too. I think I just need to relax and stop being so paranoid...:)

No lol. I asked them today, didn't include that in my first post. I was still kind of freaked out by it cause I noticed them while using a laser.

I have had the lil blobs that pop up at random once every few months.
Had them for the past few years lol.
Also at times with my eyes open in the dark "trying to sleep" I noticed tiny very very tiny red green dots.
Kinda like pixels. lol

Here's how I understand it. Laser eye damage will result in a stationary black dot in your vision that will eventually fade to simply a blurry area as your brain compensates for the damage. The reason why you see floaters and they're so annoying is because they're constantly drifting around in your eye so your brain can't compensate. I've got rather annoying floaters in my right eye that drive me nuts if I'm looking up into the blue sky. It's like a little gray blob with a bunch of tendrils coming out from it. It's never gone away or changed much in years and rapidly moving my eye or refocusing causes the spaghetti like tendrils to move around. Seriously annoying.

I suppose floats are more age than laser related... but you may be more likely to spot them once you are working with lasers are become aware of any danger to your normal vision.

Working with lasers just makes you more aware of visual abnormalities. If you think something serious is wrong seek medical attention by all means, but also consider that just being aware of your eyes being in danger makes you more likely to reconsider artifacts most people take for granted.

Cataracts are more age bound and they can pop up when your getting older. But the doctor said anyone can get floaters at any time in your life.

I have had floaters since I was about 9 or 10. I asked the eye doctor about them and was told they were nothing to worry about, he also said some people can see them easier than others and are usually just small particles like dust or lint.(or too much masturbation) That was several years ago when I had a piece of metal removed from my left eye.

IIRC correctly it's just foreign crap like mineral deposits and other stuff floating around inside the vitreous humour of the eye (the juice that fills it!)

I know they are a few different causes for them, but it's really of no concern. Most likely, you've always had them and only started to notice when you got paranoid.
I know i've always had them cause i use to try and watch them for fun....if you try to focus on them they move away
They are also more noticeable on a bright background. try looking at your computer monitor when it has a pure white screen......you'll see tons of them.

I thought floaters was the leftover fluid that protects your eyes before you were born. That's why babies can't see after birth because the eye hasn't got rid of that fluid ???

Babies can see after birth, just not very well, because they are nearsighted. This is because of the lenght of the eyeball isn't fully developed yet.

I can only see floaters in a bright light and the sky for example, and even then they are so tiny it's hardly visible unless I really focus on it. No big blobs or annoying things floating here. :)
