I heard about this early in the morning. His popularity from his family name will only make this a even bigger news story. This is a big blow once again to our laser community. Making anyone with a laser pointer look like a scumbag in the eyes of joe public.
One day some one famous will have there eyes damaged ,or worse their children's eyes damaged from some random person with a pointer. It will be a big news story.
Then when enough of joe public is pissed off. Will have some suck up politician jump on the hey lets protect our citizens and introduce a ban on all lasers over 1mW for privet citizens Don' believe me just wait.

What I don't like it that in the first article they seem to refer to people shining lasers haphazardly as "hobbyists". This gives the false impression that people in this hobby are reckless and nuisances.

I really think this is gonna happen too. It wont be long before we cant import any lasers over 1mw, and they start cracking down at customs.
