I have the 200mw dilda and was wondering if goggles were necessary if i am just shining onto black materials? I know it is always a good idea but is it a must? What are the symptoms of eye damage? Are there any good cheap goggles for 660nm? Thanks.

Yes, look on dragonlasers' site. There are many cheap yet effective goggles and for burning things, eye protection is a must!

They are certified and reasonable priced. Don't mess with your eyes. Anything over 30mW can cause permanent damage.
