13-Year-Old Charged With Spotlighting Helicopter

PARKVILLE, Md. (AP) — Authorities say the pilots of a Maryland State Police helicopter were temporarily blinded by a laser pointer, and a 13-year-old boy has been charged in the incident.

It happened Sunday about 8:30 p.m. when the helicopter, with two pilots and a flight paramedic on board, was on a training mission over Baltimore County. Troopers say the cockpit was illuminated with a bright green flash of light, which was held on the cockpit.

The pilots recovered their night vision and were able to see where the laser beam was coming from. Troopers called Baltimore County Police and directed officers to the house where the suspect ran.

The 13-year-old is charged with reckless endangerment and laser pointer misuse. He was released to his parents.

Get your laser parts in stock people, soon enough it will all be outlawed for the general public... and actually enforced.

Well you could have an 11 year old who is reponsible enough not to shine a laser on a plane and then a complete nutcase 19 year old who might......

depends how they were raised :p

I hope that kid and his irresponsible parents are made an example of by the authorities.

I bet his dad got b!tched out for getting his son a "cool" new laser toy.

Do some research people before you buy your kids crap !! Parents are 100% responsible for their kids actions.

It's a damn shame that these irresponsible, juvenile, adults and these IDGAF teenagers are little-by-little ruining this hobby for us.

IMHO, way too young for a laser. His actions are proof of that!

Not necessarily. I wasn't pointing lasers at aircraft even when I had a Blu-Ray at 13. It's that too many people just don't care and don't realize the circumstances, even how many times these warnings are repeated through the news.

I don't think liberals will correctly attain to and understand this matter since all news stations that respond to it basically say that "laz0rs r bad mmkay."

I dont get why its so hard. Its common sense. Im confused as why the hell people would shine a laser at any vehicle unless they want it to crash..

Common sense is not so common. People these days just don't give a f@#k. If people can do it, they will. The only reason they do it is because they think they won't get caught.

It seems like every generation gets more careless and stupid.

When i was 11(im not 11 now) I didnt point my laser at a car,plane,human or anything else that i shouldnt be pointing it at, also i never let anyone get a hold of it cause i know quite a few idiots who would do something stupid with it, as you can see i was and still am much more responsible then kids like these and im sure that goes for most if not all of people here on LPF
