I received my "250 mW, 650 nM, Red laser lab projector, OEM, TTL" from Kenny at Zonestealth yesterday. Delivered, the cost is $122.50 USD.
This laser is advertised as above to output 250 mW at a rated current of 330 mA. It arrived in good condition by USPS.
Mech. Specs: The laser is 1.017" in diameter and 3.925" long. The fluted laser head is 0.883" long and this area is the major heatsink area for the LD. The rear portion is a large empty area used to house the circuit board which floats inside the area. The two pieces are not threaded together but instead pressed and glued.
Elec. Specs: The module is rated for an output of 250 mW at 330 mA current draw with 3 to 5 volt input. I ran my bench power supply between 4 and 7 volts and the current draw of the module remained a rock solid 330 mA.
Power output using two different meters averaged 190 mW - steady.
Lens system: The lens module looks very similar to the Aixiz plastic assembly. It has the small hole at the rear which we usually drill out. Removing the excess plastic did not increase out power.
TTL: The third wire (blue) is a TTL input with 1 (high) turning off the output. There is no analog portion in the on/off curve.
Overall: This is a generally well built module and although it puts out only 200 mW, what do you expect from 330 mA when looking at the curves published on red LD's on this forum ?? This module is easily focused and will do all the "burning tricks" we expect. Kenny at Zonestealth tells me that the recent addition of the focusable lens system is the cause of the "slight (50 mW)" decrease in output power. RIGHT.......
Anyway, This is a solid little module which outs 200 mW for long periods and with almost no warming of the head. Kenny is a very good communicator via email.
