In my opinion $900 for a 500mW green laser with all the features of the Krypton and the sexy styling is a fair price. Of course I would much rather the price be $500. I think they would be better off in terms of forum support if they charged $1/mW for all their Krypton series and had a breakdown every 100mW for that series laser. 200mW for $200, 500mW for $500, 800mW for $800 etc. Then for example when they list the <800mW with a spec of (700min-800mWmax) people might not freak out as much.

That would make for a more honest advertising campaign that
may help bolster their reputation...

The problem is I don't think they can do it. I mean they literally can't afford to do it. Don't ask me why, but it's the only logical conclusion.

We've seen a few krypton reviews at this point, and only one or two iirc PEAKED over 1W. Forget about stable and tem00...

There is also a huge profit margin to be made in lying. WL's goal is not to sell to us, but rather to the uneducated folks at large.

For those people, seeing even a 300mW green laser will be a whole new experience, and without an LPM they will NEVER know that they are getting ripped off.

So what it comes down to, is it's more profitable for them to lie, and even if they wanted to they couldn't offer up 1W lasers consistently. As such, they aren't going to change their business structure, and IMO are a lost cause.

The most we can do is warn people to stay away from them.

If the business plan works whats their motivation to move towards legitimacy? If WL was a US based company the doors would have been closed many Shanghai moons ago ( no pun intended).

LMAO, thats why they threw the owner of WL out of the US. He moved to China to escape certain circumstances.

Well, just recieved my craptron..

Euhmm delivery was a week (very fast)

power output ?

not even 300mW and i ordered the 500mW version ^^

Let me charge the battery.

Cheers sm.

If that's not it.
Then it's hammer time.

Hello I'm curious have you now properly charged the included Sanyo battery yet? and if so how is the power now? The battery is shipped without it being fully charged, as is the practice for just about ever Li-Ion I ever received from any source.

Also because the Sanyo is an unprotected Li-Ion I hope you didn't try running your Krypton too long when first out of the box without fully charging it, as it can hurt the battery by discharging it too low.

You should have read the tech specs page before ordering. 250-500mW is considered within spec for the "500mW" model according to WL.

It was really shady when WL briefly sold "1.5W" models for $1600. According to the tech specs page, the power was really 750-1500mW. I wonder how many suckers paid that only to receive a Krapton that barely broke 750mW...

Well Wicked Lasers has vastly improved their shipping times & customer service as most that have ordered from them in the last few months have noted; way better than it was when the Arctics first came out.

They still however could do a better job on how they Market their Lasers.

The point of this post is I just noticed this morning, they have now moved in the right direction on that front too; only time will tell how that works.

They now have re-classified their offerings on the Krypton;

300mW $299.95 500mW $399.95 750mW $899.95 1000mW $1399.95

So it seems they are paying attention and trying to improve things.

Please note: I don't know much more about this other than what I just seen on their webpage this morning; so please don't flame me, I'm just posting what I see. I haven't seen any announcement about this change, unless someone else has.

Thanks,
peace

Exactly.... Ya needs ta read da fine print when dealing with crooks....
even though they are now shipping these under advertised spec
Lasers out more rapidly.
They're probably trying to sell as many as possible quickly before
the buying public catches on...

I noticed they have changed the spec info too;

300mW
150mW ~ 300mW

500mW
250mW ~ 500mW

750mW
500mW ~ 750mW

1000mW
750mW ~ 1000mW

300mW
150mW ~ 300mW $299.95 (same as before)

500mW
250mW ~ 500mW $399.95 (same as before)

750mW
500mW ~ 750mW old 1W price $899.95

1000mW
750mW ~ 1000mW
New rip-off price $1399.95

The only thing they have done is split the 1000mW Laser fine
print specs into 2 categories and increased the price of the
1000mW Laser by ~ 45%.
I guess it cost them $500.00 to stick them in font of a Laser
Power Meter before sending them out...

They were on the right track at $1.00/mW with the first two..
Then the WL Greed kicked back in for the last two...
