I don't think so. When I bought mine they were out of stock and DL got more.

I don't really believe the whole "cost of materials increased" thing, either. CNI just increased their prices because they lost a lot of sales due to the FDA stuff (which makes no economic sense, but at the end of the day I don't think they care about the hobby market).

I don't believe that they were out of stock. When I asked to have a laser picked with excellent beam specs he assured me he had tons of them just waiting but then when I ordered he quoted out of stock and I think they do that to buy them some extra time to get it all done. Which is fine. I just don't believe they were out of stock.

Hum, makes sense. Might be why he never told me beforehand they were out of stock... I wouldn't mind the extra week either. It always takes 2-3 months or anything to get here anyways (which is why I'm still waiting for mine while various members got theirs already).

They are still uncommon compared to the main 4 colors.. however as far as the 3 month wait.. mine arrived in under a week from ordering.

Gotcha. Either way I'm still proud t own this 589. May not be from cni or 80mw.. but it was a good price has nice specs and is stable once warmed up.. no mattee how many people buy 589 lasers cuz of this th read or lpf or dragonlasers prices they will still be rare in comparison I think to 445 or 532nm or even 405 and 650 especially.

Well put. And to be honest your laser IS probably doing 70-80mW during its best times. The CNI were nice because they would do upwards of 120mW. Downside to them though is they would degrade a lot over time and you would see output just keep going lower.

Yes when it mode hops which it does it goes from gaussian tem00 to a slightly split beam with two dots, and back when it's hot but when it's in its happy temp range it's stable pure tem00 and I'd agree upwards of 50mw 70mw easy. However I didn't pay 1200. I can't complain and as common as these may become among some LPF members they are still rare as I said. Also apologize for my grammar I'm typing from my phone with a bad autocorrect.

Rarity is nice but remember it's not a competition guys.

Although my favourite laser does happen to be a rare one, my second and close favourite is my 445. Rare? No - it's common as muck! Still love it though, and despite the fact that I could sell it and my ARG goggles for a packet (and have been tempted...) I just can't bring myself to part with it.

And by the way the Spartan host is from CNI, it's the PGL-M.

My 405 is my favorite next to my 589 and it s common too. Arguably the most common diode made. I don't mean to come off at competitive btw if I did sorry. I'd lose that on these forums by far if it came down to collection integrity and diversity.

No I'm not positive

Turns out your right. The pgl-3-m is the spartan host. Wonder how DL gets th em from cni and resells so cheap? I mean th e fixed lens is cheap and the host is cheap compared to the old 80mw cni 589 in the pgl-c host I believe it was.. was before my time tho. I just got into the hobby and that laser was beyond my price range at the time so I never researched it. But your rigt the spartan is a CNI laser thru and thru.

+rep for good info. Thanks

Oh! Sorry for being unclear. I was referring to CNI's total sales. The total handhelds they seem to have been producing has dropped due to the stricter laws, which in turn makes the parts more expensive. Which was what I was referring to.
