SKYlasers.com 300mW Portable Laser Review

Monday, March 1st

Customer service

The customer service at Skylasers was just great. I have been talking to them for quite a while now and I have asked them a number of questions and they have givin me a lot of answers and good advice. They are very polite and can actually speak English (unlike some other companies). After I ordered this laser the power sheet was given to me in 2 days and I received the laser 2 days later.

Design and Build

The body is solid aluminum and has great heat sinking capabilities. The great thing about this laser is it has a continuous runtime, therefore you don’t have to turn it off and on when you’re lazing
The barrel at the top of the laser including the focus, focus lock and shutter is 3 ¼ in and the shaft is about 9 inches not including the length of the emergency connection plug.
The laser follows all FDA regulations for class IIIB lasers: it has a key hole that can be turned on and off above the LED light, a removable connection plug at the end, and a shudder at the top of the laser. The LED lights up blue indicating that the laser is on.
The thing that I like the most about this laser is the focusing mechanism. Most other companies just say that there lasers are “true culminated energy” and they don’t need a focusing ring. When this laser is focused it can burn very efficiently. To focus this laser you turn the second ring out the entire way and then lock it with the second ring right behind it and your ready to burn!
At the bottom of the shaft there is an end cap that you screw off to put the battery in. The end cap has a hole in the bottom that holds the connection plug which you NEED to operate the laser.

Accessories

Your portable laser will come in a very nice plastic/aluminum case which is about 10″x7″x3. It has protective foam on the inside and a plastic insert that fits the laser, charger, keys, batteries ect. The charger holds one 18650 lithium ion battery that takes about 4 to 5 hours to charge, But once it is charged you get a solid amount of lazing time. {Batteries do not come with the laser so you will have to order them online www.batteryjunction.com} So, inside includes two keys for the case, two keys for the laser, and the connection plug.

Lasing

Ok I will start off by saying that this laser is extremely bright. Saftey glasses are a must if you are buying this product. This laser will light up a whole room with green if it is completely dark, and will burn (when focused) pretty much anything that is not white. When smoke is blown into the beam it lights up like a light saber and looks incredible with a fog machine. This is a very bright laser and therefore you need to think about when and where your pointing it keeping an eye out for cars, planes ect. I love pointing and reflecting it off different materials and objects of different consistencies. If you are lucky you will be able to see crazy patterns reflecting on your wall. I have to say that playing with this laser is a lot of fun and very addicting to play with.

Power Output

The power test results are in my album in my profile
If you check them out you will see that his laser is well overpowered and stays at a steady level near 400mw and just dips below 350mw shortly during this time period. I am very happy with the power of this laser. When focused this laser gets extremely hot. It will light a cigarette in about 10-15 seconds and smokes many other materials and surfaces on contact.
Final few words
Despite the fact that this laser is a bit less expensive than some other competing market, the quality is awesome. From what I have seen so far I am very pleased with the Skylasers team and their products. Skylasers is a very professional company with high quality products and a great staff. I love my portable. It was ordered as a 150 but I'm confident that when compared to other beams it is well over 200 :) it's awesome!
