Hi to everyone.  I would just like to begin saying that this review isn't going to be a hate fest over Jake21.  His service was prompt and he was very helpfull.

The package that I received was had the diode in a standard zip lock bag and then there was an anti static bag around on the outside of the zip lock bag.  Now I have a feeling that this was how it was shipped to him from China, so that is why I am not entirely angry right now. :)

Now unfortionately due to "Most Likely" static discharge or just simple abuse of the SF-AW210 (we have all seen the sleds), My diode never produced any bight light with a starting current of 140mA.

I do, however have some photos that I would like to share with everyone.

This is how the diode looked when I first took it out of it's package.

Here are a couple of photos once I removed the heatsink.  If you look close at the bar code, you will notice that it looked like it was scratched at? Weird. :-? :)

Here are some photos after I put the diode in a module?

Now, I am not asking anything from Jake21, for I believe that if he did anything wrong that it was un-intentional.  I can honestly say this much, this was the first time I have ever recieved a diode that didn't work from the start.

This review was not meant to scare people away from buying from Jake21, for I think that he was a very easy person to deal with.  I mainly wrote this review to draw to attention that superior packaging is a must when it comes to sensitive electronics.  And also to stand by my statement that SF-AW210 DIODES are junk. ;D

It's difficult to assign blame for a loose diode not working. I suspect you would have had better luck if you had harvested it yourself. I'm sorry for your loss.. :'(

That is why I am not blaming Jake or asking for a replacement or anything else of that sort.  I know that the SF-AW210 sleds are abused like crazy and that each time you buy one, you are taking a great risk.  As I had said before, if Jake21 did do something wrong, I believe that it was un-intentional. Shoot, I may have done something wrong, or Jake21 may have got a bad diode from the start. It is impossible to tell. That is why I am not telling anyone to not to buy from him.

The only thing he could have done better, was the packaging.

I honestly would buy from Jake21 again.  He seems like a good person to deal with. :)

Looks like the Chinese had some leftover fireworks from Chinese New Years they used to "disassemble" those sleds...

And I second the opinion of Jake - He's always been helpful and shipped relatively promptly when I've dealt with him too. Bummer about the diode, though - sort of (I find it hard to mourn a dead AW210 myself)

I am not really sad about that diode, just rather PO'd about it. Oh well, just add it as another loss for me. :)

Don't worry about it, Like I said, I am not angry at you. :)
However, if you do feel like sending me another one, that's up to you. I won't refuse it, but I also don't want you to be taking a loss either. :)

Iskor, I still got u just waiting on Dr Ryan to ship drivers... shhhhhhh!!!!

PS I've got a SF- diode running strong at 190mA no problems so far and I must say it has an unusual
color... Very pretty! :) run time on and off of course 1hr.

Had to edit darn spelling

shhhh? what are you talking about? LOL ;D
You are lucky. :) I haven't had a SF- Diode last me more that 30 minutes. But then again, all of the ones that I have received have clearly been abused like crazy. I must be honest though, when the other SF- diodes ran for me, they did look pretty.

i recived my SF-AW210 diode's from jake a few day's ago . they came in bubblewrap in a one of those white "sled" box's plus the shiping bag . they both look'd good nothing like the one iskor12 got .the 1st one died in about 15 min's @ 176ma . to me it looked the same as a 4x or a phr not as bright as a 6x . i never got to burn test it tho. i'm waiting for a new module with len's for blu-ray to show up before i test diode #2

I bought a diode from this GB also, and am going to run it at 160mA in my DIY Sonar laser. 160mA seems to be in the safe range for these diodes, what do you guys think?
