I know I promised reviews of all the different lasers I just recieved from SZWholesale, but as I am having troubles getting ahold of my buddy with his LPM, for now this review will be a simple "Bench Review"...

First: The Company. I had a little trouble on the front end of this order, as I was unaware of the Chinese "Grave Sweeping" holiday and to boot, one of the items I ordered was unavailable, so there was a 12 day lapse of communication on both our parts. Once we got "on the same page", however, Emily was great at not only upgrading a substitute item at no charge, but also threw in 2 of their 50mW "star" pointers as a bonus (review on those to follow soon). From the Email confirming shipment with tracking to arrival at my door was 4 days - and the best part was the way they had packed the order. None of the 'Ol "Box O Chinese stuff" here, no sir - everything was grouped and wrapped in protective foam, labled, and even the factory boxes had either protective sleeves or foam wrap to protect them! Definite A+ on the speed of shipping (once we got around the holiday) as well as packing, etc.

(Side Note - While SZWholesale ships to the US, they DO have a minimum $200 order or you will pay a stiff "sample surcharge" as well as shipping, etc ... For smaller purchases, they have a "retail" site with slightly higher prices and free shipping at www.qualitychinagoods.com - this laser sells on that site for $25.50, a $5 difference - however keep in mind that their selection on that site isn't as large...)

Second: The Laser. http://www.szwholesale.com/romisen-le030-30mw-532nm-green-laserle030-p-2665.html What intrigued me about this little laser was the fact that it looked like an easy host for one of suzies modules (or possibly a BR/Red build), and as the photos show, disassembly is a snap. Mine came with troubles, though, and wouldn't lase out of the box, turned out there is a spring behind the module that facilitates the positive electrical contact that was bent out of shape (probably during final assembly) and with a quick tweak and reassembly, we were lasing happily. The laser itself is IMHO at least to spec, just as bright as most LED 50's give or take, nice tight beam, and very finicky as to heat (you need to warm it up for a while to get up to best output, right around 10-15 seconds)...

Which brings me to the best part of the review, the use of this as a host. As the photos show, disassembly is straightforward, and the heft and weight of this thing is really nice - one massive chunk of aluminum, solid, solid, solid. The module has a small retaining ring that holds it in place, but with one of the O-like modules this wouldn't be needed (aixiz either) as the head of the host would hold the module nicely once modified (yep - there's always a catch) . The head of this laser host is drilled at 8mm for this module, so to use either an O-like or Aixiz module, you would have to drill out the inside of the host head to 12mm (which should be very straightforward as there is plenty of material in the head, making it a not very exacting task.) Once you did a minor drill to the head, this should be a drop-in for one of susies modules, woo hoo! For Aixiz, the same drilling would be necessary, however the drawback would be IMHO that you would need to remove the head to focus the module and you would either have to destroy the green driver board to use the switch or rig your own ... not as easy as building a tail-clicker, but still very doable.

Bottom line, for $26 retail this is a solid little laser with tons of heft and even more potential. the cuves make it very "pocketable", and the switch is a positive "click" type (so positive in fact that it's audible) so accidental lighting in the pocket isn't likely. If anyone needs better pix or actual dimensions, etc feel free to PM me!
