Re: Rifle Host (Arctic Lookalike) 445nm 800mW from Lazerer.com Side by Side with Arct

IMO this is a MUCH better size... I mean let's face it, there is no good reason for the arctic to be the size that it is... if they installed an active cooling system in there I would understand, but the way it is, it's too big.

Thats just you. I personally like the size of the arctic is the way it is designed, It's a good size host, Love it.

Looks like a nice host though, They did lack the ability to router the middle for that little tab which does add its looks, but you cant fully clone it I guess without company battles. Cost cheaper or not, I still rather my arctic =P I still take this laser with me places. I even had a physics teacher requests I did and i ended up bringing it to school waiting till my last hour to bring it out. I have carried it in public places as well, such as parks. Since its not being miss-used, people dont care I have it. I even had a cop before that was there just taking a break enjoying the scenery that happen to come up to me/friend to just general talk on hows life etc, told him it was a burning laser from WL, manage to lend him the goggles my friend had on to show him its burning ability on a stick, and the man didnt care. he just thought it was cool, and since i wasnt flashing it all over, he didnt care I had it in the first place =P If thats too much i just clip it to my side and call it good.

If you must know why i had a laser at the park, it was because its was decently light out, and i was showing him the beam by pointing it a good 100ft to a concrete wall.

I'm not an Excel expert.... but IIRC there is a way to use that
Excel data file produced by the EagleEye Data Logging Software
to produce a chart by Excel...

Jerry

You are correct sir. :D

Graphed the data for you. :)

Nope. A friend is going to let me barrow it to check ouit before i mod it for him.:eg:

me is jealous :p

j/k only cause we all know its going to be awesome (and possibly very shiny)

@JBTM are you talking about the Tab where the battery indicator and etching is? If you are its on the rifle also..

Thanks for the comparison shots infinitus, I wanted to see that actual size comparison

Glad you like the pics and video guys:)

@jbtm - Aesthetic preferences are individual, obviously I'm only stating my opinion in this thread. IMHO considering the price, this laser is far superior to the arctic even stock.

@Trevor - Thanks for graphing that:D The sharp drop off at the end was me turning the laser off - I didn't want to run it past three minutes.

Can you please post instructions on how do that with excel, 2007 or 2010?

@Ra1nfade - Saw in your review about the acrylic lens... that's a bummer, but lazeerer is gonna take care of that for me in the upgrade.. don't know if even he can get this thing shiny, but if anyone can, it would be him.

Also I've been in contact Max throughout via PMs. He assures me that the acrylic lens did stand up fine to testing... so with a reasonable duty cycle it might work.

Even so, he is already working on a second version of this laser, and will address the shortcomings, such as power, and lens, and possible add multiple modes:D I will of course order one as soon as it's available:p

Highlight your two columns of data and go to the "Insert" tab on the ribbon. Use a scatter plot. :)

^^^That's a good idea:beer:

One thing that annoys me is the design of the way the pattern heads are attached... there is no direct contact to the part that screws in from the outside, only from the tension from inside the pattern head itself.

I would much rather have zero friction in the pattern head, but be able to screw in the pattern head tightly.

I love that circle pattern.. looks incredible outside in the dark when it's humid...

The star effect pattern is also incredible with this laser as is... on a bunch of trees it looked amazing, but imagine if there was near zero friction and you can spin it really fast:eg:

Thanks
Yeah, on the standard aperture head I dabbed a little bit of epoxy on the backside of the head (just on the space where the silver piece and head connect) to create a piece that can be tightened a little more.

The rest I left able to rotate cause they make nice patterns in the fog :D

Yeah after a lens and driver mod this laser truly is awesome. I wouldn't buy it unless I planned on doing those mods to it though.

^^^Max is working on another version, to address the issues, so mods wouldn't be needed from stock configuration.

The changes required are relatively minor imho. I wonder how well the current stock laser would survive a torture test:eg:

@Ra1nfade - Can you post a pic of what you mean about this please:
