Re: Reke 500RGB

The MDXL is a handheld 2 watt 445 handheld i originally purchased for my son but never sent him.

What's a DTR MDXL and why would you sell it if you just got it?

Usually the shipping step takes 3 (DHL) - 7 (EMS) business days and they don't seem to send anything DHL even if you choose it..

The processing time however can vary greatly... Usually they get things shipped at latest 5 days I have found so most people have their projectors in hand worst case 2 weeks.

Just make sure you check for rattling or loose screws when you get it that seems to be an issue lately.[/QUOTE]

Re: Reke 500RGB

So this morning I peeked inside the Reke, and saw that the plate where the lasers are mounted was indeed loose. I eyed where the lock washers had left an indentation, and then I pushed the board to that spot and BINGO! The red and green snapped back into alignment. So my REKE 500 works afterall. However, after projecting it onto a surface 15 feet away, it hit something shiny and reflected back at me with such intensity that I'm worried I might have injured my eye. Can a reflection of the laser at 5 yards do that much damage to you? I suddenly feel like the kid from A Christmas Story.

Glad to hear you got it working... It's really important to check your area for shiny things first... I learned that the hard way with a much lower power projector... 500 mW is nothing to be scoffed at, it WILL melt your eyeballs at several hundred feet away...

You may not be 100 percent screwed tho... Not all lasers were nessicarily on at the time, the beam may not have directly entered your eye, it may have moved away before damage was done and what it reflected off of may have been diffused quite a bit... These are all maybes tho...

You can start by looking for blind spots on a big white screen... Did you see any afterimage once the laser was off?

Did you get a headache? Any unusual symptoms since then?

You MAY be ok but we aren't doctors and can't see yoiur eyes so if you are concered go see an eye doctor.

Re: Reke 500RGB

was the projector scanning?

if its scanning you have a smaller chance of damage but its still 500 mW and its only scanning at 10k, go get yourself checked out you may be fine but if not they can give you some steroids that will help you heal some.

Anyone in Europe here who bought a unit? Is it cheaper to order directly at Reke in this case?

I didn't have any luck getting in touch with Reke myself... I don't know if they do direct sales or not.. It didn't seem like they had a shopping system on their website when I looked... If you want contact them and see if you can get one for cheaper and let us know...

Re: Reke 500RGB

Got mine today! :D I got the version with the key switch. Now to get this running via ILDA, I need to bridge the interlock?

Edit: No need for interlock it seems, everything works out of the box, including ILDA!

I am AMAZED at this unit. 305$ (I didn't get charged at the door) total cost is simply amazing. For anyone who wants a starter projector, this is the way to go. Even if you want to build your own, this would be a great place to start, I wish I had this for reference when I was building mine.

10/10 This is simply the best 305$ I have EVER spent.

Edit 2: The ILDA pattern looks great! Everything is a bit flicker (as expected) but it's tuned perfectly. The square is just touching in the sides of the circle :D

Re: Reke 500RGB

Guy ---
1. My projo looks real good on allignment after it warms up for a while. It is way brighter than my home built RGB :-(
2. My sound card has mic and line audio inputs. Will these give me a "show" of light with direct audio input?
3. My correction amp board has no caps on the outputs. It's currently direct coupled to the ILDA connector cable. This looks different than what I see here. Do I need to install the coupling/blocking caps and move my DB25 cable before connection to the projo? 1 mfd?

HMike

I think I totally missed this question HMike...
1. I never really paid that much attention to the alignment I just knew it was off a bit and learned to ignore it.
2. Um no, at best you will end up with some weird squiggles at worst you will get absolutely nothing.
3. I think it's OK... check the soundcard DAC tutorial sticky in the Laser Show thread there is a picture of how it should look... If it looks like that than you should be good to go... Have you tried it yet?

Neat... I was in Arlington Heights for some training.. That was an awesome time... Our trainer was sent up from Bulgaria and we had a super fun time together (they actually rented him a car unlike my cheap company)... We went to an awesome Korean BBQ joint and one of those Brazillian Steakhouses.. And we at at some crazy seafood place... And we had a picknick at the beach downtown there and went swimming and shit... And we ate at some super ritzy steakhouse/fish place downtown where I had the most amazing piece of beef I've ever tasted...

EDIT: I don't know how you don't go completely insane with the traffic there :p
EDIT 2: I forgot to mention all the drinking :p

Nice... I'm going to guess either military or ninja training (?) because both are readily available. I know the Korean BBQ place you're talking about also, great food! The Brazillian steakhouse has to be Sal & Carvo, very popular & also great food. As for the city, theres too many delicious steak/seafood restaurants to guess and that's also why most of the locals struggle with their weight ;)

I don't drive too much so the traffic isn't an issue for me, but when I do it's usually fast & reckless to make up for the intorable delays hehe. The drinking... mmMMmmm

WiMax training at the Motorola campus, though if I knew about Ninja training I may have taken that while I was there :p

I don't remember the names of all the joints but I know I had some really good food and a really good time while I was down there :p

EDIT: Fry's should have the DB-25 ends you need probably...

Re: Reke 500RGB

Wouldn't be a very good standatd if it wasn't standardized :p
Also then no hardware would work with it... If it's an ILDA port it's standardized.

If you want the pin out look in the soundcard dac thread stickied on the laser shows forum. That's what I used when I was wiring / testing.
