OK, here are those measurements that I said I'd take:

Quiescent: 4.04mA
Blue: 1,329mA
Red: 404mA
Blue + Red: 1,669mA

Looks like it's time for another trip through the LaserBee as well! :)

Curious why at 1.3 A the blue is outputting only 232 mW? Also in the original post you wrote Blue: 389.20mA?

Also which diode do you think it uses? It looks like a SM so maybe a PL450, (although current would be too high for it) or a 445 at low power (ie 389.20mA) only lasing in SM not MM? Is that possible?

Cheers

His batts weren´t fully loaded.

Guess it uses the A130 multimode 445nm, at least this was the case with mine.

I´ve seen multimode lasers having better beam specs when running on a low currant.

Ah ok thanks. So does that mean the blue is running at 389.20mA and not 1.3 A too? Still :beer:

The blue is indeed running at ~1.3A; I took another power output analysis (before the laser failed that is) which showed that it output 232mW this time.

Since you have a power supply, for future reviews you should take batteries out of the equation, since very few people will use those same batteries anyway. Volts on the other hand are universal. It also makes it much easier to check for regulation, and how much of the cell charge that the device uses.

I did use the power supply to check for regulation; however it cannot output much over 1A so power output & stability analyses cannot be performed with it...well, not accurately anyway. :(

BTTT: This laser has a totally asinine duty cycle recommendation -- the "ON" time is just 45 seconds to 1 minute max! This caused the laser to be derated ***SIGNIFICANTLY!!!***

In my opinion, this is most definitely worth a thread bump.
