Hey everyone!
So, since I was traveling, I arrived home to some VERY lovely lasers. (I've been pretty excited to get these monsters since I had great experiences with the #100) I wasn't disappointed.
These things are AWESOME. Everything I can say about them is fantastic but I do have 1 very small issue which I'll talk about in the review.
Obviously, like all my reviews, I should start out with some pics:
Pretty simple looking, decent host, and pretty solid. The mounting bracket that surrounds the button is loose though and can be rotated in place. Not a huge issue really, just a small thing I noticed.
Just a direct comparison to my fav. laser - standard PGL size vs the #200
This is a closeup of the head/output area.
I need to mention that I have a new point-and-shoot camera and it messes with the color balance on me, so some pictures are very red/orange heavy. I have to fix that, so sorry in advance.
Starting to open this up a little. On the left, the focusing lens. On the right, the head of the laser itself.
As you can see, this is the same B-Mount diode that was in my "700mW" Boblaser's greenie. Quite powerful stuff really!
Now because this laser's button is a momentary button and not a switch, I didn't get a chance yet to take beamshots. I wasn't feeling it last night when I took pics. Tonight might be different if I'm not busy.
I DID try and use my LPM though to get a reading of how powerful these two are both with 3.0V batteries and with 3.7V batteries.
Please forgive my poor chart - I didn't have graph paper to manually make a nice graph, so I used my mini-whiteboard
This is IQS #200 (1) with a 3.0V Battery:

I would suspect, based on the readings that the 3.7V battery PROBABLY needs charging. I'll get some new readings off of the 3.7 once it's fully charged up
Overall very good laser(s)
The 1 thing that I had issue with:
The focusing lens.
Setting the focus to infinity is impossible, because it's not at the end of the threading. Meaning, when you twist the focus ring, it loosens and doesn't stay put. The laser light flys all over the place. I'm seriously thinking about finding the focal point and supergluing the focus ring in place because it really does drive me bananas. The focus is off making the divergence look like it sucks when in reality it's the poor lens focusing ring.
At any rate, that's my ONLY complaint about these lasers. I'd say do away with the focusing stuff. It can burn without needing to focus, and if you wanted to focus THAT badly, get a lens lol
