Hello.

Long time since I made a review so here is a review on the Core from WickedLasers. I got it from finding some errors on the WL site. From the date that I found the error and reported it to the date that I got it was in total 13 days. Not bad for being WL.

PROS:
- Very good beam quality
- Awesome for a laser pointer to carry around
- Nice finish
- Fast shipping
- Nice customer support (only one of the assistants, a girl named Jeice Cruz)
- Nice packaging
- Smooth tailcap
- Sexy host

CONS:

- The other customer service people are not as nice.
- Didn't come with batteries.
- No bubble wrap or anything.. Could easily have been damaged

You might think I'm promoting WL or something right now because there aren't so many cons and there are more pros then cons, but the thing is that this is the core. I mean, what can you do wrong with a 5mW green laser? I have got some more WickedLasers which I will review, and you will see more cons on those then on this.

And now.. Pictures:

The case it arrived in..

The manual..

Safety information..

Inside the case.. Ordinary IKEA batteries (mine, not theirs)..

The way the batteries should go in..

Again.. Very smooth tailcap..

Some logos..

Hard to see but the sticker claims <500mW :undecided:

Dot in not lighted area..

Oh and.. the beam is visible in unlitted rooms (very dark rooms) and it is a little visible in a lit room (not to lit).

Did I mention that WL loves putting their name everywhere?

Good bye:)

And this is a very good 5mW green laser, it's a keeper I think. But for $29.95 I don't think its really worth it, but if you get it for free like me then.. :D

I tested my core on a LPM peaked at 6 then stayed steady at 5mw

Then I dropped it and the glue holding the photo diode and lens assembly broke and I had to take it apart and reglue everything.

Yes it had photo diode regulation for 5mw and also has an IR filter.

Of course you are promoting WL directly or indirectly. Nothing wrong with that.

People here promoting everything , and everybody.

As long as it is not pushy spam IMO it is OK.

Why you assume that all of us would like to see more cons?

Next time try to post in larger font, so I can put nice mileage on my scroll wheel.

Midias if photo diode is involved then you are dealing with APC laser modules.

Cheers

I'm not sure what to believe but my O-like 50mW is almost as bright as my Core (maybe a little brighter).. And my O-like 50mW pops balloons. I'm going to try to pop one with my core.

Next time try to post in larger font, so I can put nice mileage on my scroll wheel.

Cheers

I was uncertain whether or not you were ironic, I waited for some sort of confirmation and Bluefan confirmed it. I'm going to try with some smaller fonts next time, it actually looked good on my screen.

The size looks fine on a 1080p 40 inch monitor. :p
Nice review, i finally got my core shipped after waiting 2 months.
Apparently i was on some old list for reporting the bugs, lol.

Unlucky you. I guess some people are prioritized before others. Or are they playing dices on who to ship out to?

I didn't want to review mine, since I didn't buy it, but it is a very nice pointer! I dropped mine for the first time yesterday, knee height onto asphault, no change in performance, still a perfect round dot when expanded. Just has some gashes on the ends.

Host feels very solid, square threads on the tailcap make a very smooth fit.

Works fine with my AAA duraloops

IR filtered

button is hard to accidentally push

From what I've heard, the Core is their best product. My experiences seemed to affirm that hearsay for me.

just got my core today and since i actually ordered it because it looks nice and there is a mod by kipkay (Make a Laser Pointer Burn! - YouTube) i already tried that
this is what i got:
img_20120117_1244038kj6z.jpg

upper dot is classic 5mW lower dot is the pot-modded laser (with some reflections in the camera lens)
i turned the potentiometer in the laser until i couldn't see any brightness difference anymore

Pot-modding is NOT a way to increase you lasers power !
Actually it is a way to destoy you laser by overdriving your diode !

Everyone here knows that kipgay knows nothing about lasers !

that is true, but i'm fine with that :]
if the diode burns, it's my own fault
