Enough with the beamshots. All lasers look the same when pointed into the air. If you want to impress everyone with the power of this new toy, then point this laser at distant targets of known distances and stuff like this Laser Pointer Experiment
Then we all can really appreciate the power of this new toy. :)

Sure.
I'm living just a channel away from the dry dock.
I can use some of the ships as target practice. Let's hope that's legal

Hey EH, you live in a tough neighborhood alright!!!

A good 500mw 532 is very satisfying, anything above a tight beamed 300mw 532 is great!
Whats this about you power on button.? don't lube it
My PGL shutter has to be visually checked because the normal feel of it open leaves part of the shutter door clipping the beam.....just twist a little harder and tada...

Epicham there will be another group buy.....for the money and since you're close( so shipping won't kill) you could get an 800mw for probably less than 405dollars. How can the other companies compete.....I have asked other companies to match price CNI.....Some will ,not openly though.

Hope you get things settled i'm very happy with my CNI laser quirks and all.
I too thought CNI would be..........better than expected. I expected a lot..and got most of it :)

Me too mate. Me too.
Just received my remedial shutter , gonna upload some pics of the new shutter later.
As for the GB ,well... We have a problem. You see , all the lasers are going to the person who organised the GB. That means usually to the states. After that , the organiser will redistribute the items...
Which means... I'll be crossing the pacific ocean... 2 times.
I might need to see if I can sort out a direct shipment

JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY!
Look at this!!

It appears the shutter they've sent is oversized and doesn't fit the grooves.
Oh boy!

And no , it isn't the kind you were expecting.
Its a screw on cap.
Like an inverted bottle cap.

Thanks alot :)

That sucks the button sticks and they send you wrong parts. Aren't they supposed to be a quality company?

Anywho, wht is the divergence on your 500mW I saw a 800mW with not so good divergence :/

Ok.. To do list
Experimentally measure the divergence .
Get better spot shots .
Rgrero.
Gonna go buy myself some measuring tapes and a those diameter clamps

That would be:

Im sweating out weather or not the CNI-PGL or JL-PLE PRO (500mW)
I just wanna see what the dot looks like with goggles over the camera from a known distance perhaps at intervals of 30-45secons to see if the mode is stable.

I actually did not have nothing from my calculations and used my floor tiles and a ruler. (which was very inaccurate) :)
THANKS FOR THE GREAT REVIEW! I can't wait to see how it measures up.

Looking forward to seeing them.

Sorry for the delay guys.
I'm moving you see .
Stuff is a bit scrambled and the schedule is pretty much out of the window.
Still haven't got a chance to get on a jogging trail to measure the spot diameter yet .
Those data are yet to come , but for the time being.
Here is a few extra shots.

This is the testing ground.

Well I guess it was inevitable....
My crappy tripod couldn't stand the weight of the massive laser and it crumpled...
With the laser smashing HEAD FIRST into a granite boulder and then tumbling down the rocky hill.

I've retrieved the laser , but its now not even at 5mW....

More news coming soon.

Well, I haven't been on for a while.
Schoolwork is killing me and I'm a bit low on the piggy bank .
The laser is still stuck in Customs Hell.

Guess I won't be seeing my laser for a VERY VERY VERY long time.

Photo oscillation via stimulated emission of radiation didn't help at all lol

I guess I should have changed "radiation" to light instead :undecided:

Ahh
You should have just got it shipped with nothing but this:
(I heard it works) Lasers should be shipped with this sticker and some lube. and called a pleasure light... on top of that labeled as USED so no one would dare to even touch it!

I think I read somewhere on the forum about someone else who had a bad experience with shipping the laser back. They had to get the more expensive tracked shipping that cost almost as much as the laser originally.
