Default Qualifound Laser Review Follow-up

As you're all aware, I was graciously chosen by Faona of the Qualifound Company to do a product test & review of the 1st laser that she had posted For Sale. It's the nice, sleek looking gray laser. I can't give you the name of the host because there is none marked anywhere on or in the laser itself. All it has is the required DANGER LASER RADIATION sticker that "claims" <30mW's out-put on it, which leads me to believe her claims of having a VERY QUALIFIED person actually making these hosts, instead of just buying a mass quantity from some other manufacturer. This, I believe is a good thing as the Quality Control portion of the manufacturing process, can be more closely monitored, meaning a higher degree of professionalism in the creation of these sleek little lasers. They ARE quite small, with a caliper reading of 118.07mm overall length, & 26.34mm in diameter at its widest. The switch is a VERY solidly built click on- click off type that delivers an authoritative, clearly audible click, each time it's pushed. She uses an RCR123A Li-Ion battery ( The standard 16340 3.7 VDC ) to power this little baby up. Not having a Spectrograph myself, I can only assume that the beautiful emerald green color that issues from the aperture is 532nm, the 'standard' Greenie color. I also used a Digital Camera for IR detection & was pleased to find that although I didn't see an IR filter on the unit, the Camera only picked up a hint of the dreaded IR Radiation mixed in with the Green. The shape of the 'DOT' on the wall at just under 15 feet had a very clean circular pattern with very little ( negligible ) scatter around it. Another measurement taken at that distance, was the Diameter of the 'DOT', which came in at just under 9mm, ( 8.77mm ) so another + point for good divergence. The BEAM itself was quite thin, (actually a bit thinner than the beam from my NOVALASERS ALPHA 125) & is visible during the day-time in a well lit room. This was puzzling to me till I remembered the readings I got from my 1st quick LPM test when I 1st got the laser, & just put the battery in, which was only partially charged, & got a reading which was almost double the mW's claimed by Qualifound & the WARNING STICKER,<30mW's, what a laugh. With my LASERBEE I LPM, I was getting consistent readings of 54mW's, & a peak of 59mWs, with the battery fresh off the charger. All things considered, I'd be negligent if I rated this little power-house of a laser at anything lower than a 9 1/2 out of 10. It's got all the features that one looks for in a laser, Green or other colored. For quite a low cost, you get a GREAT GREEN LASER, A battery charger made specifically for the RCR123A's so you'll always have a fresh cell on hand, & the shipping time leaves places like DX in the dust. I'd like to thank Faona & the others at Qualifound for the privilege of being the person they chose to review their very 1st laser model. If their other products are built to the same scale of quality that this one was, they are going to have a hard time keeping up with all the orders that will be pouring in. I'd wish you luck, Faona, but with products of this high caliber, you won't need luck, these lasers will sell themselves ....................rob

Good review - can't wait for photos. What leads do you still need? If you have any problem, I have a (large) drawful of pretty much any cable you may ever need, and for postage+packing, I'd be glad to get rid of a few, if I have multiples of the one you need...

Very nice review! One of the best reviews I've seen in a long time. It covers most questions, and sounds like a really nice laser. Paragraphs would help... And I really hope they start selling higher powered lasers; I'd like a ~100mW RCR powered laser.

I have ordered one of these and will let you know if mine is a 30mW laser or a 50mW. It seems as if the 30mW lasers are only available in silver and black, so the grey one (sent to Phoenix77) is most likely a 50mW laser...
